Welcome!! Some trepidation? I had it, but glad I got over it. Those cold feet were meant to be ignored, because this implant has been a God SENT BLESSING to me and my family. I thank God every day for this technology.
Driving? I drive with my unit on...... however not driving right now due to the cervical spine issues which are giving my arms fits. Sleeping? Before the arm fits situation, I was sleeping just fine however I wanted to; subject however to my wife's gentle nudgings. Bicycle riding? One of my favorites. Skiing? Had to give that one up Skydiving? I never could see a good reason to jump out of a perfectly good aircraft. Walking pretty good. Can dance a tiny bit with my wife. Looking forward to the next chapter after thsi arm problem is put to rest. Now, as for you? Praying all will be well. Mark56 |

Hi Andy
I am coming up on my 1 yr. Anniversary with my Boston Sci SCS. I will. agree that the first 3 weeks were very uncomfortable. It was hard to find comfort sitting or lying down. Extra pillows helped a lot. I was able to drive a fwe weeks post op. Once the incisions healed sleeping was no problem. My Dr. Used staples which were very uncomfortable for me. I had a reaction to the staples with itching and burning. But it disappeared as soon as the staples were removed. My friends Dr used glue and she had no healing issues. I forget about the battery except when it's time to charge. Loose fitting clothes helped a lot the first few weeks. Good luck next week. Wishing you success and relief from pain. Sandy Kay. |

Trial is in. Sorry it's not Boston Sci Precision but I bet y'all won't kick me out of the forum - my doc went with Medtronics.
My result? Wow.....I am truly in disbelief. The trial went in and I was discharged by 2:00pm Saturday. At about 6:00pm I felt so incredible I was determined to go for a walk - didn't care it was 102 outside. I took off and walked the long-end of our block (we're 4 houses off one corner - I went 17 houses the other way) and back without missing a beat. Knee pain? WHAT knee pain?? Not only has this all but shut down the neuropathic pain but even the joint-stuff (all those "itis" words) is also quieted down. I know I'm only in day 2 of this but I'm calling it 95% reduction. The last 5% is on the anterior side of the leg/knee and I called my Rep and we're going to meet tomorrow afternoon at the Doc's office and he's going to 'tweak' it and see if we can get that to shut down a bit. If so then I'm seriously wondering if I'm looking at 99% or even pain-free. I doubt the complete 100% but since they consider anything over 60% to be a successful procedure then I'm dancing with joy (and thanking God repeatedly!). Now I want to know why I have to wait so long for the implant! |

What great news, Andy!! I'm so happy for you! That's a HUGE reduction in your pain, so it sounds like this just might work for you. Hope it continues and this gives you a new lease on life!
Keep on dancin'... Jan

Hi, I'm new here and my name is Sherry.
I had the spinal Stimulator placed in Aug 2011. I have from the start given it about 50% pain relief from the burning pain in my left arm. Since i have had it my Rsd has spread into other parts of my body. I will not let this get me down, I just keep going because I do not want to lose my arm, if I stop using it. What are other things that people with RSD have done to take away the pain, including meds. I'm on methadone, topamax. and Roxicodne. I'm really glad to have found this site for the emotional support. |
