Default Update

Well I had both my appointments in frisco yesterday. I saw my pm doc and she started me on the topamax (I figured she would) and said we hoped it would kill the arm burn as well as help migraines. It has a little, but time will tell.

Had lunch and visited the container store during the lull. Okay, 172 dollars for a trash can seems a bit extreme to me. My apologies if any of y'all have paid that for one.

Surgical appt went well, but I pulled a stitch! I got re-steri stripped and told no baths or pools for at least two weeks. Which is fine. It's 108 here. I'll sit in the ac.

I got four more cycling programs and all seems well. Still some pain and soreness, but soooooo much better. The real test comes 8/27 when school starts!!

Teeth Well

Kaye, sounds like a good report over all..... that is except the part about the trash can. Did it have a motor and self guidance to talk itself out on trash day?

Default Topomax

Regarding Topomax - I tried several different drugs for my nerve pain with great results, but horrible side affects. The nerve blocks and such did not have good long term results for me. Topomax was a life saver for me. Short term side effect was a little "messy head" for about a month, and a "lot" of weight loss until I got on the right dose... but, I needed some weight loss because of the weight gain I incurred from the Pshychoit drugs they put me on before they actually put me on the drugs that actually handled my pain. In fact I am a size 6-8 female normally, but when I got into my accident, they tried to put me on these anti-psychochoit (sp) drugs for the pain that did NO good!! and I gained 60 pounds in 60 days. I thought it was "water weight". When I told the doctor it wasn't working and I wanted to get off the drug and asked if I would lose the weight she told me, "No, your appetite actually increased and you actually gained that weight... it's not water"..... It took me several years after that before I got on topomax to finally relieve my "NERVE" pain... I was on several other pain medications for the other injuries, but I couldn't get the nerve pain under control. I was at 180 pounds, but before the accident and before the anti-Pshyshochit drug I was at 130 pounds. Once I got on the topomax, I dropped down to 120 pounds in about 60 days. So be very careful. My doctor progressively increased my dosage because of the "weireness" side affects and my body's side affects... and, I was enjoying the weight loss. But, if you can't tolorate the weight loss, you really need to be careful. But, the "weirdness" is temporary. By weirdness I mean severe moodswings, lack of concentration..... etc.. Good Luck

Thumbs up

Thanks for the update TK!
I sure hope the Topamax will work for you.

108! I'm 2 states above you and FED UP with this @#$%&* heatwave drought cr@p! My pasture is burned up and I'm having to sell off half of my horses. It's really alarming. I feel bad for so many cattle farmers. Alot of them are selling them off for butcher.
Still no rain in sight!

....sorry for the rant I do feel better tho!

Take it real easy and let the healing come day by day.

oooooh my goodness a drought!! how awful for you Rrae......

Our farmers have awful trouble here with our weather too, unfortunately for us its RAIN RAIN RAIN....we have what you want and you have some of what we want. The planet is gone mad. We have had the worst Summer on record apparently. The wettest ever....its amazing how much rain can fall from the sky.

I do hope you get some of it and get some real soon.....dont know which is worse....soggy fields or burnt ones!

Ooo Wow!

Jackie, how crazy!!! We are both on opposite sides of a terrible spectrum!
I'm sure we'd each be glad to trade one another's situation just for some RELIEF!
I know POOH is directly related to what I'm harping about. It's a very sad sight to see pastures of green turned brown and dusty. I broke my back planting many trees, which are struggling severely.

Sure hope things turn around now that fall is nearing.
Rain at this point would be too late anyway. (almost)
