Thumbs down My sucky yesterday

My scs has me feeling fantastic! I can do a lot of things that I haven't been able to in a long time. Well yesterday I tripped and my foot, the RSD foot, never the good foot of course, hit the lip of the sidewalk and down I went. Well, being 6 1/2 weeks post op I went straight to protection of my back. I did protect the scs BUT the consequence was two broken foot bones, a chip. So I am tuck in a cam walker. My podiatrist flat out refuses to cast rsd limbs (smart man; knows it does more harm than good), and crutches. I can try weight bearing after 2-3 weeks, but 6-8 in the boot. Such a bummer. The deterioration of the bone in my RSD leg is terrible. I'm afraid this may become an outgoing problem. The scs is of course calming rsd pain, but doing nothing for the bone pain. It hurts soooooo bad. I never realized a foot break could be so painful even with scs and pain meds lol.

Well, that's my horrible update.
Scs is awesome, right foot is not

Obviously I'm an emotional whine bag too. Could use some cheering.

Shocked Oh Noooooo......

Oh TK.....my heart just sank when I read your update! What a triple quadruple BUMMER! I'm so sorry that this happened to you, especially now as you're beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I've broken an ankle once, and had a bad sprain another time, so I know how painful it is. Actually the sprain was far worse because it took so dang long to heal.

Ughhhh!! Just wish there were "do-overs" in life, don't you? With both my injuries, ice helped more than anything else, other than drugs. Some major narcotics might be nice for you right now...lol! Or maybe a Rip Van Winkle shot so you could just go to sleep for a couple of months. I don't think they have those quite yet, though.

Anyway, hang in there kiddo. Watch movies, read books, play on the computer, listen to music , whatever it takes to keep your mind off the pain and aggravation. Hey, do you play any musical instruments? When I'm having a rough time it really boosts me to play my guitar or keyboard and sing loud, and sometimes angry songs.

Sigh.....prayin' for ya,
Jan

Unhappy Oh TK!!

How devestating! I'm so so sorry to hear this.
How you must be feeling. I sure hope you have sufficient pain meds to help with the bone pain so you can at least get comfortable and keep your foot elevated.
Watching uplifting movies, commedies, good books, etc. will help bide the time.
I'm so glad you didn't pull your leads or your stimulation hasn't changed. Do you have plenty of help? You certainly need support right now, so let others do things for you.

Soaking foot in epsom salts seemed to help me, but I'm not sure how that would fare with your rsd.
This was just plain cruddy luck and you sure didn't deserve this.

I'll be sending prayers your way, TK.

Caring,
Rae

Default Good Morning

So sorry. Continue doing the things that you respond well to. So glad you have a doc who knows what he is doing. Can't say that about all of them. In the rough times, it is a bit of comfort to know the doc knows his stuff. Take care and know that many are thinking and praying about you. Hugz.

Well my rsd hand just could NOT handle crutches. I switched back to cane and wheelchair. I'm just glad it's working. Course I try not to roll onto the broken part. I don't play an instrument; I've always wanted to learn. I love to sing. I want have been reading, listening to music, and keep reminding myself that it is temporary, and I have been through much worse!! For much longer lol. I'm a little better today. It's just tough to get to a point where you feel better and get slapped back down. I'm sure NO ONE here understands that lol. Anyway, I will keep y'all informed. The scs is still working its magic. Thank goodness. I know it's only supposed to help nerve pain, but I swear without it, my foot would be much worse. Thanks so much for caring. Y'all are such a great group!!
