Well......

I have a sharp Sw Army knife I could loan ya, if you are thinking of changing careers and becoming a surgeon Andy, but, I reckon you might have some schooling and a bit of residency to complete not to mention exams, boards, and all of the fol-de-rol of trying to be licensed in that Lone Star place to practice medicine..... then they probably would not allow you to use my knife. But just in case, it is here somewhere.....

I do hope and pray the identification of the troubles with the unit is close at hand and REAL help is only a short bit away. The frustration at being limited when you want to help your bride prepare for family to visit has to gnaw at you, for I know the experience well myself.

The Lord be with you in all of this Andy,
you answered the TM via your post,
save your time for something more needful,
Yup,
Mark56:)

What Mark said. Hang in, hang on, and know that the Great Physician is holding onto you. And enjoy the visit with your sisters! I'll be praying that it will be a blessed, happy time for you all, and that your pain will be under better control by then!

Lotsa Big Ol' Texas-Sized Hugs,
Jan :grouphug::grouphug:

Android-Andy is Back

Wow...so much has happened it's almost a blurrrrrr
Between nearly losing my mother-in-law and all the craziness of getting ready for my family to come down...and my silly Stim unit, sometimes I'm not sure which way is up/down/upside down!

So...I'll try to make the long story short. My Rep turned out to be an excellent troubleshooter and he finally got the impedance test to FAIL ... ran a real quick test WHILE it was stuttering. Voila! There it is. TWO contacts are shorting. Yep - out of 16 possible contacts (on 2 leads, of course) two are bad. Nice for $80,000!

So...he went to work and programmed all around those two bad contacts and got the coverage almost as good as before. The "before" being when it stuttered...the coverage on that set of programs was truly amazing...the goofy thing just stuttered like crazy.

So here we are, my P-Gen is fine, the two leads are fine except those contacts and I have good coverage so - I'm letting it go, for now. He showed me some published statistic that showed when 2 contacts are bad the 5-year outlook showed something like 92% success-rate. Yes, I could force the issue and make them switch them out now but....I'm not interested in repeating the surgery AND in 5 years new technology will be out (he said Medtronic is within 2 years of an MRI safe model). So I think for now I'll enjoy the coverage and ActiveStim (that really is COOL!) and let things go for now.

Tgft...

...which stands for Thank Goodness for Troubleshooters.....lol! Seriously, Andy, I'm sorry you've had these troubles, but glad that they're maybe getting to the root of the cause. Still, I think it's only fair that they write you a big check for $10,000 since 2 of those contacts weren't working correctly....think they'd go for that? I'm thinkin' probably, um, NO.

I'm just so glad that you now have good pain coverage, and will keep praying that it remains so, Brother! Enjoy the wonderful respite. And thanks for the info about the hopefully upcoming MRI safe model!

Hugs and Hope,
Jan

That's pretty good, there, Jan! 16 contacts divided into $80k does come out to $5k/contact.

Oh well, it's all in the hands of the Father of Love and Light. He's always taken care of me and He will continue to do so. I'm just getting around to mailing in the warranty registration for all this stuff - if the unit is going to completely fail I sure hope it does so before whatever warranty is on it doesn't expire.

:)
