Ive had a fever since Friday off and on. Now they think it could be pneumonia, so I'm trying to be up and walking, using my inhalers, slow inhale and exhale, etc. I have asthma, so I'm prone to this anyway, but hopefully preventive now will mean no problems later!
Healing is getting better. Walking more, still feel horrific (I blame fever), scs seems great. Having to get used to sensations moving due to not scarring in. My incision burns, so I've nixed the ice. I don't want RSD down my whole back. Topomax keeps the burn in check, provided there's no ice lol. Back brace is hard to get used to but has kept me from reaching many times!! This is more important this time since my little lead has an old home to back track to. Sooooooo trying to cheer, working hard, and hoping to get to leave the house soon and not have pneumonia!!! Hope everyone is well!!! Thanks for hanging through my blueness! ![]() TK ![]() ![]() |

Hope you start to feel lots better soon. Am surprised at the back brace .. I think it's a fantastic idea to keep your posture correct, but my physio, surgeon .. They say NO!

Tk I do hope that you get well soon. It isnt nice to have to go through the pain of surgery and then to have something else wrong also. I hope it will go soon and that you will be on the road to recovery very very soon....... Good idea that back brace at least you know you cant move in the wrong direction and do some damage

Gotta be thankful for the brace to help keep the lead from migrating to former path of uselessness. The incision pain will hopefully abate soon and with the walking and inhaler/inspirator you will avoid the pneumonia setting in! You did say inhaler, so I figure you have a prescribed medication inhaler, but hope you also have an inspirator which aids in practicing deep inhalation to prompt clearing of the lungs.
I was not issued an inspirator from the implant surgery as I was not "out" so long and so very deeply as I was for the recent fusion, BUT, with the fusion I was issued an inspirator. You know the kind, the stiff plastic tower with the flex tube through which one inhales to draw a meter up the scale to both count the ccs of air inhaled and markedly demonstrate progress at taking deep breaths. It helped me. Prayin those walks and breathing do the trick for you TK while that SCS now properly working will scar appropriately and the incision heal up right nice for you, Yup, Mark56 ![]() |

Turns out it WAS pneumonia!!!! Left lower lobe. It was caught early, but I also had a viral infection and uti/kidney infection as well! Wow. I had that gut feeling something was wrong and it was right. As far as the scs , it seems great. Buzzing happily, and luckily no complications with it. Thank goodness!! So I'll keep trying or trucking!

My Lord, TK! You really got slammed!
![]() I'm very thankful knowing that these things were caught rather early. Your body has had to put up quite the fight. Continue to take it easy, plenty of rest, healthy diet, etc. I'm assuming they've pumped you full of antibiotics, yes? SO GLAD your SCS is doing well! Hopefully it's taking a big chunk of that pain away as you fight off these infections. Thanks for keeping us posted! Rae ![]() |

Hi TK
So glad your scs is working so well. With all you've been through it's great to know you're getting relief. Hopefully the antibiotics are clearing your lungs up and you'll be feeling much better. Sandy Kay ![]() |
