Another question
 

How much,if any, supervision will I need after the scs is implanted? Remember, I live alone and will only be staying up with my daughter for two days after the implant. I guess I was wondering about monitoring the incissions since one is in the back and changing dressings. I am the queen of post op infections. Medicaid is saying that they will not give me nursing care since I am just having same day surgery. What does that have to do with the need these days? My aide will be in three days a week but she will only be permitted to take vitals. The incissions are understandably off limits.

I guess I am trying to cover all the bases in advance because I hate surprises. I really appreciate all the experience and support.

Incision Care
 

Hi Spine-
We were sent home with bandaging which you likely will not be able to apply so the dressings [two incisions] could be changed with a view to avoiding infection. I might have been able to change the dressing on my right buttock cheek where the generator pocket resides, but the attempt to change the dressing at my T8/T9 laminectomy site would have both violated BLAST and been impossible.

Got a friend in the hometown who might come over and do that part? Any one?

I'm back but it was a real battle. I couldn't get in per ususal so I got a new password. They assigned it then wouldn't accept it. I did this several times. I reregistered several times but it wouldn't accept the security responses. Grass is still green, right? Oh well, I am here and am now Spiney95. Whatever. :rolleyes:

The at home care looks like a bit of a challenge right now but I will figure it out. I don't have functional friends here. I know that sounds strange. I moved to this city to be closer to my medical support. I didn't know anyone here and have basicly just connected with folks in my building and I am one of the more functional ones. My friends outside the building are part of my safety net and can't touch me without orders. It's a bit complicated but I will sort it out.

I am sorry you had a problem, but as there are many new members registering each day without any problems with the process, and also getting new passwords, it really must have been a glitch on your end, most likely clearing "cookies" or doing a security update on your computer. The fact that you already had an account may also have caused problems in the system.

Mom and Pop places
 

I agree, Mom and Pop places are usually the best. However, in my case, I go to Walgreens. I live on a tiny Island, just seven miles long, and I did get to know these pharmasists. They have gone out of their way for me., just as if this was a tiny mom and pop place. Once in a while, you do run into big business, that treat you very good. ginnie:hug:

Good to have ya here....I preach aftercare into the ground. I moved my son in with me who was a big help but then went back to work too soon....I still suffer from that decision.
If you can please give it what it needs to settle into your body...rest!!

No problem. I am not going through all of this to blow the post op. end of it. My brother just ordered me a new weight bearing break rollator today as mine is down right dangerous. Its only ten years old with no breaks. :D Medicare won't pay for it in spite of the fact that the arthritis in my hands makes hand breaks hard to use at best. It also automaticly "catches" me when I fall forward. Once I start buzzing, I will be able to stand upright and start walking again. I will even be able to wear real shoes again. It's been at least ten years. I am putting my case manager to work on the problem of finding someone to help with surgical site care. Have a great day.
