Default My last journey ..

Well, went for my pre op yesterday. Gosh we are so lucky in the UK to nave the National Health Service.

The Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield is wonderful. The staff go arOund smiling and singing and yes, there are the miserable few, but they are in the few.

Pre op went well. Pencilled in for 19th November but not got a letter yet, I suppose they are waiting for the pre op results and especially the blood tests, to check whether any infection remains.

I'm slightly more nervous as my surgeon worries about all the scar tissue and healing / infection on the paddle side, but I'll be taking it VERY easy this time. No trip on wee Arthur a few days after the op. I will give myself plenty of time for the incision sites to heal.

Have asked to be put on the morning list too,

Fingers crossed that this time we will be THE time.

Default Best wishes

Not sure what your surgery is you are going for but my thoughts are with you. Yes the old NHS we grumble about is literally a life saver for many.

Thank you my dear friends. I'm nervous a bit about this one as there is so much scar tissue in my back, having had it opened five times now .. Will it heal slower ?

Heart Healing IS

Healing just IS. Your body already has shown you how you will heal and over what period of time. If some of the procedure is the removal of scar tissue, you will find pain associated with it; however, as one who also creates scar tissue at break neck speed [you know? In view of my recent cervical fusion, that saying takes on a new meaning.] I personally know removal of scar tissue doesn't produce much in the way of discomfort discernible from the surgical intervention itself.

Prayin,

Thank you, one and all. I am so excited.

I know that this time I will have to be careful after the op .. I was far too impatient to not bed, twist, reach and was out on the mobility scooter within a week of getting home and I think this rubbed the scar area on my back which led to infection getting in ... Although the surgeon says it was on the metal of the leads around my side so.. Who knows.

I'll be lazy and read lots this time ...
