Default hmmm, another question

When I saw the surgeon for the pre-op "meet and greet", he never mentioned anything about pre-op testing.....you know, the blood and urine testing, ekg, yada yada. I know this is not open spinal surgery that could last for hours with increased risks but he will be using anesthesia. I am in good health except for the spine and autoimmune and autonomic glitches but I am surprised that I am not getting the general once over. I see Pain Man on Tuesday and will add this to my list of questions.

Hmmm, that IS strange, Spine. Surgeries, big and small usually always have pre-op workup.
The doctor probably doesn't even mess with 'that' part of the surgery, since it is so standard and routine.
I recall a nurse calling me a few days before surgery and asking me alot of things over the phone. I think I did the UA first thing when i got to the hospital for my implant.

I'm sure they'll work it in somewhere, but definitely a good idea to ask at your appt on Tuesday

My implant isn't until one oclock. If he was wanting me in there early for testing, he should have told me then since the Cookeville gang is taking me up and its' a long trip for them. I know Pain Man will want some concrete answers on this and will make a call up there. All things considered, I will push for having the work done down here and have the results faxed up there. I'll just insist that I don't have transportation up there before the surgery. The Cookeville gang is chin high in preparing for the Christmas program. My daughter and SIL are constantly rehersing two choirs, two bands and my grandaugther is coreographing and rehersing three dance troops. My grandson is set building after taking a course on it early this year. At this stage of the game, this is going to have to be done my way as I have no intention of driving my scooter up there and stopping every 30 miles to recharge.

Heart My Doc's ALL

Mandated Testing prior to surgical procedures since anesthesia is dangerous enough without the risk of unknowns. It is par for the course.

Further, illness which could compromise the surgical work would be detected by most such testing; another reason for its conclusion BEFORE you set foot into check-in. Seems you should be requiring attention and answers to questions before you hop in the car for the ride to surgery.

One time I was exempted from the testing, and because it was a surgery occurring within 30 days of the next most previous surgery I experienced. The two surgeries were close enough in time, even the med center felt it was not necessary to "put me through more."

Cool Smirk

Pain Man will not be happy about this and will get something set up after calling the surgeon. I'll have it done down here, like it or not, as I don't have transportation u[ to Louisville at this time. The entire Cookeville gang is up to their eyeballs in the Christmas program. My daughter and son in law are rehersing two choirs, two bands and Allison has choreographed and is rehersing three dance troops. Jon is building sets all week.

I took the 26th surgical date so they wouldn't be under the gun durring the holiday. The senior pastor better have that downstreamed or he will hear from me. He has a tendency not to authorize downstreaming programs that he is not involved in. That's enough to make a mother backslide. Later, y'all.

All is well. I have emailed the head pastor and told him that downstreaming at least the first performance was a must as I have three ladies coming over for a viewing. All things considered, I should be permitted to hear my SIL's original music, my angel singing and watch Allison and her ninja dancers. Jon will be on center camera and make certain that the family gets plenty of air time. He takes good care of his grandmother. Back to bed now. The gentle rain is positively intoxicating.

Last March I had a microdiscectomy,,,,two weeks later my SCS trial and two weeks after that my SCS implant. I only had to re do my bloodwork/EKG after 30 days passed which they almost missed.
We do have to keep track of these things and speak up...not always easy ..Spine you seem to go over all your mental lists for every scenerio...keep at it for your own mental relief so you can go into surgery with less anxiety.
