Well tomorrow is the day I get to have my Psych eval to see if I "pass" in order to proceed with SCS trial.
The Psych office faxed me the paperwork to fill out ahead of time, OMG. Ok, on page # 7 were the questions about alcohol use, I answered I do not use any (only because of the meds)then one and one half hours later I am on page 27 and I am asked if I thought I had any problems with alcohol ? Never had but by this page I am ready to consided some serious visit with the bottle. 30 pages of paperwork total. All this to find out if I can tolerate having something "foreign" in my body. Already have enough metal in my leg to build a big erector set. One step closer. Next step is next Monday, I have to get cleared by a vascular surgeon since my foot turns a lovely blue color, then hopefully Wednesday when I meet with my pain doc we will schedule the SCS trial. Wow, my psych visit was a joke. Just wanted to make sure I was sane and would not rip it out. That doc you found is a pistol!

Are you taking the test at home? It's been a long time since I quit working, but if you are, the test can't possibly be valid. Oh well, the doc sure isn't going to rat himself out. I'm curious. Are you being seen by a psychologist or psychiatrist?

The session will be low key so don't sweat it. The most important thing is to communicate that you understand that there are no magic bullets and have realistic expectations. Throw in that your main goals are to reduce the meds and increase your level of function. .
I think it is a hoot that you took the test at home. He will most likely score it with computer software. That test is a real cash cow if your ins is paying for it. He will bill for three hours....two for the test and one for the interview. Relax. Spine |

I was given that huge pile of questions to complete at home too and then I dropped them off for them to score them. Then they discussed the results with me in my hour long visit.
I am sure yours will go fine Kim Good luck! Nanc |

That stack of papers is a diagnostic instrument and is to be taken in the office in a controlled manner. As it is, anyone could have taken it for you. Not wise . The doc noted that I was rather sarcastic

I see no harm in answering the questions at home, I have RSD in boths hands, shoulders and left arm. It would've taken me forever to do it in the office. I think they would be able to tell the difference if the questions were far off from the conversations they had with you.
My doc in the phsyc eval said that I was depressed and had this sense of hopelessness. I told her they made a mistake in scoring the answers. She said she sensed it in our conversation. I never gave indication of that because I didn't feel that way...not then anyway. It meant I had to go through a couple of visits with her before she would ok it. As Rae said, the cash cow continues to moooo Nanc |
