Heart Today

The monster has been very busy my hunny found her a very nice pony about 2 weeks ago, She rode most of yesterday "helping" the guys to find and tag baby calves. She got to ride quiet a bit today, she informed me "I talk horse mommy!" She also graduated from training wheels today. She ran out of energy about the time she hit the bed. The ER was a mess again today. Thought we may be lucky today but it seems the big blue light was on again about 11 ( ER is open and empty come on down) Got finished with the paperwork about 8:15 then hit the road for home. Such fun! One more day in the ER then a day of surgery. I work surgery Friday also, but a shorter day, cant wait for a day off to just crash and pamper me, myself and I

Heart Pampering

Well Mark the pampering had to wait one more day. Monday was even worse in the ER didn't get off until 9:30 pm. Nasty Nasty.
Yesterday was lost. I spent most of the day in bed taking meds as often as I could. Heat pack on when I wandered down to the rest of the house. Did not go outside until about 5 pm. Such a lazy old woman. I plan more for today Take care my friends!

Default Health care work with scs

Pooh- do you have lower extrem crps? Wondering if you help transfer heavy patients with scs in place. I am worried about blowing a lead lifting somebody. Hats off to you for working in very mobile jobs. I do anesthesia, so unless my patient is sick, I can sit down for a lot of the day! The multicase rapid turnover days - not so fun these days!

Welcome to the world of NeuroTalk SCS! Yes my SCS is for my left leg. Yes I do heavy transfers lifts, most of them I can avoid in surgery... transfers are done @ our facility with at least 4 people. BUT in the ER I frequently have to lift/transfer from ambulance gurney's to our beds. Also have to help transfer from our gurneys to x-ray or CT tables.
The factor that lets me do this is my SCS (this one ) has been firmly in place since 2006. I had to do the BLAST for 8 weeks after that I was limited in my lifting. I was working Home Health/Hospice at that time so it was very easy to avoid lifting. I DID have a fall that did a number on me. I dislocated my shoulder and ripped my leads loose So once I healed from my shoulder injury, I "got" to have new leads and a new unit.
I currently have a Medtronic rechargeable I have my unit set pretty high for the most part. When this battery gets to end of life( approximately 2 years) I plan to get whatever the newest unit is available at the time.
I will have all the normal restrictions at that time. I will have to limit what I can and cannot do also. But I know after a decent recovery time I can return to the job I love.
My biggest problem at this time is the nerve pain that we cannot "reach" with my SCS. The pain there is beyond cruel. I pay daily for the work I do however I NEED to do this work.
Such is life

Default Hopefully last big surgery with gnarly leg pain

Well pooh, tough call. Any kind of nerve ablative procedure in a crps patient is a bit sketchy. I have wicked spread, but hey despite having mild diffuse crps of the back am having scs placed. Leg function worth risk of battery site pain for me. So, do what you feel is right and I wish you the best.

Glad that I caught up on sleep last night. On call and 10 pm liver transplant to do. I have had a few > 100 unit blood loss ones recently. I sure hope not tonight. These are the hard cases - a big reason for me going through with the trial. Before, not a physical challenge - just tiring. Now I can't "stand" them.

Next time I will be buzzing!

Confused Date

Well as of Wednesday I have a date for my ablation. I am scared spit less The stats are not very reassuring I am praying that I am one of the lucky ones who get 2+ years of relief. Also that it "takes" sooner rather then later. I have decided to take several days after the procedure to make sure things are
"ok" before I go back to work. doing more research but I really have no other options at this time
