Laugh How about some humor...funny scs stories

Hi everyone,
Personally I have had quite a "heavy on my heart" summer.
I could use a good laugh
So let me tell you about an experience I had during SCS trail and the first few months of the implant...

My job at that time was a deli clerk...mad busy place...like 4 people deep for hours... Italian meats...5 slicers...I call numbers..get an order...go to slice and I am pushing on the guide bar and the dang thing does not move...why...it is not on...BUT to me it feels like it is on...I think the machine is on because I feel the vibration of it...NOT....it is me doing the vibrating!!!! Really put another kink in my day till I got used to it.

So tell me one of yours please

I know where you are. That pain is unrelenting, and the notion of having to drop the meds in prep for surgery is a VERY HARD row to hoe.
Prayin for ya,
Yup,

Teeth Johanna,,,,,, now that was FUNNEH!!!!!

It did remind me of the prep I went through prior to the final cervical spine fusion late last summer....

Showed up in the surgical center [attached to a hospital, a nice hospital, a very nice hospital] ready for the labs, the whaddya weight [as if I wanted to be reminded], the "So what meds do you take?" Followed by an electrocardiogram...... you know the drill, they take those little patches goo them on ya, attach leads, place the leads in the order, just so on the ECG machine with its little screen and paper track readout which is supposed to show a ragged line, a regular ragged line track of the rhythm of your heart.

Huh.

Leads on. Check. Attached here and there to the machine. Check. Med Tech ready to go and start the procedure. Check...... ALARMSSSSSSSS!!!! I was alarming the place with a track that looked like some sort of horrible arrhythmia, a heart attack, a cardio, another doc, the doc in charge of the exam, another nurse, the tech, my wife, who was about to be ushered out of the room [this was starting to look like a Volkswagen at a college prank party], and oh yeah, me.

They thought I was gonna die! OHMYGAWSH...... no surgery for you me bucko..... and by gum, I sheepishly was reminded by the bulge in my pocket of my stim remote. I, uh, well, uh asked "hey, do you think forgetting to turn off my stim might have had an effect here?"

They had thought I was gonna die, now I thought I was gonna die as they took the remote from my hand after allowing my to shut it off.

Funny thing...... that is....... without a stim in operation, your heart makes just the nicest little track ever on the ECG paper. Uh huh.

Do you reckon the airlines will soon make us turn them off after the cabin door is shut because the signal might supposedly interfere with avionics???

Hardy har har..........

Thank you Mark56 it is tough but I am at T - 5 days and counting down now. Hopefully 8 days till I'm buzzing all the time. I also have decided to stop smoking during all of this. smoked my last one about 8 hours ago. Like I told my wife I have been able to kick some really bad habits when I was much younger but these darn cigarettes have always been one thing that is very hard for my to stop. When I was in my early 20's I kicked drinking, some heavy drug's but have not been able to get away from cigarettes but I am determined this time. I look at it like this I have worked so hard to get to where I am right now and If I can make this up hill battle with the back problems & that green eyed monster (my name for all the pain) then smoking might as well go to. Wife tried to tell me I should also give up my Diet Pepsi and I looked at her and said "What you talking about Willis" that's like me not having my coffee in the morning those 2 are not hurting me as bad as my smoking. Me no coffee in the morning = ..............About 10 green eyed monsters

Default too funny

Mark56...that is great....I so wish I could have seen some of that....the docs can get so stuffy..it is their every day routine yet all new to us.

I am sure it made a good laugh for them in the lunchroom.

I'm happy to have been able to show my father in law my Zombie Walk when I switched my SCS on at his, just weeks before he died. Though actually, he was horrified for me .. but I was laughing my head off. (Not literally)

At home, after one of my operations, I took lots of pics of a sock that I had drawn a face on and put them on Facebook saying that this was all I had to talk to in the day. *blush* Think it might have been the drugs.

I recall asking my daughter if I could watch a film .. "Err .. we watched it last night Mum" ...

Recent: I took my daughter to the hospital .. went to the parking meter to pay and the change came in a little compartment at ANKLE level ... one crutch went up my dress .. so I bared my non hospital knickers to all and sundry ..

So far I have made it through this far without a cig. My wife said I was a little snappy with the nurse that called today for pre op consult I didn't think I was. Also today was my day to get up with my little girl and get her ready for school that went well. I made sure I got up about an hour before her so I could get a shower while coffee was brewing

My wife and I alternate days to get the little one ready for school and homework and meal prep for the day. So every other day each of us get to just chill and that works for me on my off days is when I like to do my photography just me and my camera and my tunes. Thats going to be the challenge for smoking I have noticed I smoke more when working on my photography. As for the meds that I have had to stop hopefully all of the pain right now will be worth the wait !
