The saphenous nerve - doesn't like to be messed with. Glad that you have not developed full blown crps2, but I know a bad saphenous neuropathy is still a huge issue. Will l3 drg stim cover all of that? Have you tried lf scs? HF scs - if it works= Europe and serious Canadian $.

Peripheral nerve stim an option - but I'd worry about migration. Hard to imagine they can scar down really well.

Heya! Haven't posted in awhile around these parts, but thought I would chime in as this is pretty much what my SCS is.

I have peripheral neuropathy in my left foot, and my leads were placed on the nerve rootlet rather than directly over the spinal cord itself. This makes it so that I can get stimulation on my forfoot only (or whole foot, depending on my program) - thus I don't have to have my entire leg buzzing just to get pain relief in my foot. Not many docs do lead placement like this, so I am curious how many your doc has done?

As for positional changes - it will get better with the permanent, but I have major changes depending on how I sit, stand etc...and because you are stimulating the root directly, a minor shift can give a HUGE jolt. Along the same lines, it takes so little power to stimulate the root - mine is so low I can go 4-6 weeks between battery changes. My guess is that this is why the positional changes may be more of a "shock" with a lead placed on the root - it takes less electricity to zap anything at that level...

And finally - since I haven't been around for a bit, a small update on me...I have now been officially opiate free since Feb 15th of this year! It took many months of weaning, and a not so nice withdrawal period, but that is behind me
