Default Psychiatric / Medical Assist Service Dog

Here is a book in which the child has a psychiatric / medical assist service dog. It tells about the training of the dog as well.

The book is "It's not mental: finding innovative support and medical treatment for a child diagnosed with a severe mental illness" by Jeanie Wolfson and Robert Fredericks (foreword). I got there through the link on the blog: http://itsnotmental.blogspot.com/

Thanks, Jaspar, for advocating for children with mental illnesses. This is the one population who benefits from the large dogs of Labrador persuasion.

My grandson has Asperger's and various physical developmental delays. He has severe anxiety and tears (second grade age) when his teacher is absent or if there is any other sort of break in routine. His parents are considering whether a dog would help meet his special needs. He is a sweet (and very funny) little boy.
