Default I have REM sleep behavior disorder too so does my dad

The neurologist that both me and my dad go to prescribed clonazepam. He says this is the only drug that helps control this sleep disorder. It must be controlled because everytime it happens it is brain damaging you. It is a sign something is wrong in your brain. It is called a precursor for parkinsons disease which my dad was just diagnosed with. I don't have enough of the symptoms for a Parkinson's diagnosis. Sorry for the bad news. You need to see a neurologist/movement disorder specialist. My dad has hurt my mom several times accidentally of course and I have no relationship as people are scared to sleep with me. Good luck.

My goodness you have so much going on with your health. yes even since my last post things have become more challenging. The focus at the minute seems to be on possible Lewy Body Disease LBD. I am still waiting for another review with my Neurologist as my medical consultant who carried out Sleep Studies stated that REM sleep disorder is highly suggestive of this and recent researchers have been trying to get Neurologists to recognise this as an indicator. Did you do a Genetic test to establish a link between you and your fathers illness????????

This weekend has been among the worst as far as Vivid Dreams go, just where the heck does all this rubbish come from?????????? And yet when it is ongoing it is so so real. I was so exhausted yesterday morning I literally could not move or get out of bed. Eventually near 6 in the evenong my wife helped me into the bath, as you know too well sweating and the aroma of it doesn't help.

But today is another day, the rain is off yehhhhhhhhhhhhh and Spring is in the air. Just taking a strong coffee and meds and then have another go at the family history search on line. I feel it is vital to keep my old brain ticking over, or whats left of it LOL

You take care and I hope there is light at the end of the tunnel for you.

P.S. The reason for not starting the Clonazapam is that it can also increase my daytime sleepiness which at the minute is the last thing I need.

Water willow,
Yes I just had blood taken as well as my dad to try and establish a genetic link between our illness's. Yes I am a mess. I have been going through a Neuropsychological evaluation and am still doing more testing on March 11th. I am hopeful that I may be able to find more answers and where I need to go from here for treatment. This lady I am going to is very good and is looking at all my medical records and the whole picture. So I am hopeful. I will let you know what I find out. The Clonazepam is really helping me and my dad with the sleep disorder. I know what you mean about day time sleepiness but I have severe anxiety so it is good for me.
Hope you are doing well today.

Hi, good to hear from you and so glad that you are getting more opinions. Today for me has been pretty good, for me lol. Last weekend was a different thing though, I could hardly seperate/dispel my dreams from reality and struggled to waken at all on Sunday. Never had it so vivid, I was exhausted. My General Practitioner has written to the neurologist to ask him to speed up my review. At the moment the NHS appears to be in an almost crisis and it has been months overdue. I am going to talk to him about the clonazapam. It is the first time I have really felt like giving up. But today is another day and we just have to try and focus on the best bits.
Let me know if you get any answers. I have sent a saliva sample off to 23andme to see if anything is flagged up.

Default Vivid dreams

Hi Waterwillow,
I know what you mean about not being able to separate your dreams from real life sometimes. The dreams are that vivid and violent. The clonazepam is really helping. I would definately ask about it. Let me know if you find any answers as well. I have my second session of Neuropsychological testing on the 11th - Monday so I will let you know what I learn from that.
Hope you are feeling well today. I am having a high anxiety day. I don't know why. I hate it when I feel like this. Also, feel like I had a seizure last night so that is probably why I feel so bad today. Those seizures hurt. I wake up feeling like I have been beat with a baseball bat. Well, I will just try and make it through the day.
Much love to you all,
Brain

Funny you mention neuropsychology, when I saw them during my admission to hospital they queried why I had been asked for their input but said they would put me on a waiting list to discuss things again, that was last May and have never heard from them. Life has been difficult recently!!! so my General Practitioner saw me last Friday, noticed just how hard things were becoming and has asked the Community Mental Health Team to see me, he also wrote to my Neurologist. Whatever he said he wants to see me on the 25th March. Dread it in some ways but there is no doubt in my mind things are changing. Never been so tired in my life. They also want to do a colonoscopy, ahhhhh. It's no wonder that we wonder what on earth we have done to deserve all this, why me. Flip the coin, why not me. I have seen worse, much worse and I recognise your struggle too.
Brian thanks for the kind thoughts, I hope you get some relief soon.

Default Just noticed you are in Ireland

Hi Waterwillow,
I just noticed you are in Ireland. I was wondering why your neurologist was not sending you to a neuropsychologist. Let me know what happens on the 25th. I hope you can find some solutions to make you more comfortable. I have my second session of Neuropsychological testing tomorrow (Monday) so I will let you know what I find out. I also go back to my doctor on Thursday to see what he makes of the problems that showed up on the MRI. Will let you know on that one too. Has your neurologist checked you for Parkinson's disease or done any neurological testing on you? Like had you remember a list of words, do puzzles, draw things?
Hope you are feeling ok today. Keep in touch.
