Default TBI and Sleep Disruptions!!

I was 35 and in a major accident whereby I suffered traumatic brain injury. My amnesia begins somewhere in the 1980's but it's VERY sporadic. I have NO IDEA how my sleep patterns were before I had this accident, but I can tell you that after the accident .. its been a train-wreck!

My doctor now seems to believe (he's dealt specifically with TBI's for 15 years) this massive sleep disruption is due to possible pin-point seizures! I am going on the 20th of February to have a battery of tests done, but he seems to have been right-on-the-money about many other issues.

Until then ... I am on Luntesta. He told me that this, IN NO WAY, will stop the seizures, but until my tests are complete, it will offer a good night's rest. I have slept pretty damn good on this stuff now that I've been on it for about 10 days. There have been a few nights that were tough, but overall, it's been pretty good.

I'm hoping that someone who's been down a similiar road can offer me some comfort here. Life is tough with constant pain, medication & now dreadful insomnia. Can someone who's been down this road throw me a life-line?

Thanks!

JOE...
How are you doing Now?? wondering if meds (Lunesta) still helping,
or any news, updates w/ TESTS, etc. -
since it's been weeks since you posted here w/out response. I tried to reply earlier but problems w/ computer and Lost. So trying again.... at least to get a few words, thoughts....

I can empathize with Sleep problems after TBI.
and other problems. (Not amnesia tho... how do you deal w/ that??)
My insomnia was so bad for awhile I thought I'd become psychotic. Meds didn't help me. ( Tried several, Last med tried- Rozerum)

AFter weeks of this...
Now I 'm sleeping much---but still doesn't seem to be restorative, restful sleep. I'm tired all the time, I wake feeling fatigued, even beat up, still wake frequently thruout nite ( I blame pain & neuro problems for this)
You refer to pain in your post--would you care to share more?
perhaps update- at TBI forum....
or PM me ....

I hope you find help & relief...
wishing u the Best....

this site/Link has some info on TBI & SLEEP DISRUPTIONS
http://www.sleepreviewmag.com/issues...2007-03_09.asp

will share more relevant info (if/when find or desired)

Default Hugs

and MORE HUGS JOE~!!!

Yes Joe I will be your friend.

My dear hubby had seizures ALL his life and just after finally meeting and the worst seizure of his life he LOST his short term memory~!!!! NO more memories for us. WE had to repeat, write down and repeat to teach his brain to remember. He DID remember at times but man it was hard to make NEW memories which is critical for him to learn and function.

So its not quite like your trauma, but I know the struggle.

I am on this forum because I am going through being DX for what they thought might be seizures too. BUT now found out I have a mild/mod sleep apnea AND he thinks I have Narcolepsy with Cataplexy.

So I have 2 neuro's one for MS which they are still debating and now this Narcolepsy stuff.

But know that YOU are not alone ok hon? People really care on this forum.
Keep in touch ok?

Default Sleep issues...Since my third brain surgery...

Since my surgeries, which were thankfully successful, (removed an intra ventricular brain tumor) my sleep patterns have been a MESS! I am tired all the time, and feel like I never get a good night's sleep...on top of it, we have cats that come and go all night, and my husband snores...so I'm pretty sure my sleep is not great quality sleep...anyway...I feel tired most mornings...and throughout the day, I am fairly low energy...which is tough, as I always have so much to do...I have young boys...and a house to run/keep clean...etc...I am really hoping and praying for continued improvement...because this, where I am now with my abilities and recovery...is not so hot...
