I have my PJ's on too, Barb. :o I'll be home tonight. I never have gone out on New Year's Eve.
Do ya'll remember any of the old traditions your parents or other family followed for New Years? My MIL would never do laundry on New Year's Day. Said it was bad luck. My mother would always have black eyed peas & rice on New Year's Day. Said that brought good luck. I think I've done laundry and eaten black eyed peas on that day.....guess they cancelled each other out! |
Hello everyone!! I hope all of you wonderful friends on NT have a safe and great NYE and that 2010 brings peace and fulfillment to your lives!! Really!
DH and I finally finished filling out SSDI forms. Phew...an agent from the local SSA office called this morning to talk about us finishing it...she eased my mind concerning if I'd done it all right...gave me the fax number to send the medical release form...so we're done, for now. Took untold hours...and a few curse words. Glad we're finished with this form for now. We're going over to some friends' house around 8 pm. I made my scrumptious cheesecake to bring...mmmm. We've had light meals today so I won't feel so bad about munching. Lost 3 lbs. so far this week...been sweating and walking to get this flubber off of me:( Well, I sure hope you are all safe and have fun, whether you're infront of the tv bundled up in a snuggie or out having a party... I love all of you...thank you so much for all of your advice and all of your hugs this year...really couldn't have made it through the rough spots without it:D I am blessed beyond belief for your input into my life!:D |
Evenin' all. Well another year is coming to an end and I survived. Woohoo! Plans for new adventures in the coming year are both exciting and scary. I want to make it easier to see and enjoy my favorite things. I also want to persue the idea of further education a bit more.
So... Here's to a new year and new adventures. Stay safe everyone! I want to "see" all of you next year. And thanks for helping me through the last one.:grouphug::hug: |

Morning all! Happy New Years day! My brother just left to head back to OK. It's a good day to travel, no one on the roads.
My plans today are to get this xmas stuff down and put away. I am sick of looking at it. lol No plans for dinner yet. I need to go look at the freezer and decide. Maybe I will have Chris pick up KFC. hahaha  to all. |
Happy New Year everyone! I was in bed by 10:30; woke up at 1:00 to pee, and said Happy New Year:rolleyes: Kelly, We always had sauerkraut and pork at New Years. You had to eat at least a bit for good luck. I actually bought some to make in my crock pot, but since I am dealing with IBS right now, I think I will hold off on making it. It does not sound like a good idea:o

Hi everyone! I was actually up at midnight! Several neighbors did fireworks so I would have been awake anyway... Surprisingly it didn't scare the cats. Probably because I was right there with them and everytime one would go off I'd say "It's OK, it's OK". They'd look at me like "why do you keep making that noise?". :p
My ON isn't much better but it isn't any worse so I'm thankful for that. I don't have much planned for today or even this weekend. I'll ask DS to drive me to the grocery store so I can get a few things....and just get out of the house for a bit. It's funny.....when I know I can go as I please I don't mind staying home. When I know I can't I want to get out! Everyone have a good New Year's Day. :grouphug: |
My saurakraut and pork is perking away in my slow cooker. It's a tradition for hubby's family, so maybe it's a northeast ohio thing. :) Found a great recipe for the cooker that uses apple juice to help sweeten everything up. :)
My family's only tradition was the countdown. The only time as kids that if we managed to stay awake for it, we could be up that late. :) My mom's family used to do stroganoff New Years' Eve. Homemade to the nines and twice as large. :) We stayed up watching movies with the countdown inbetween. Think we managed to crash around 3. We used to go out, but decided we like the thought of having the bed just down the hall instead of trying to navigate roads to reach it. :) Happy New Year everyone! |
