Very interesting topics. Thanks for posting them, clouds.
I guess it'd be expensive to set up to begin with.
I lived for years with only rain water and septic but needed pumps to run that to and from the house. Rain water tank was good some years, 'cause I didn't run out as I was living in catchment area, but other years had to buy town water and that wasn't cheap. Green energy is the way to go in the meantime if we can. solar, wind, tide, wave, etc. (not included is nuclear energy)

They're building a lot of little villages here now that are heading towards being self sustainable, but they're still connected to sewer and electricity but electricity rates would be negligable compared with regular housing.

I saw a house on tv recently that was built on a turntable and the owners turned the house with the seasons to either make it cooler or make it warmer. Was very neat indeed.

Speaking of sewage, it appears we'll be having treated sewage water running through to our houses here in the not so distant future at this rate. Ugh
