Well, I sho know its hotter than red chili peppers some days, but at least I'm still on top of the dirt to appreciate it. Appreciate being the key word.
I was standin in a check out line the other day and this young girl was conversin on her phone with some pore ole soul. She calls her up and says, how you doin Boo? A few seconds later, she says, well I wuz jest calling to let you know, that Zetch ain't livin with me no more. I kicked his *** out cause he don't help around the house with nothing. He comes home from work...oh what? He goes to work at five in the morn gets home at seven night. No, he don't do nuthin when he gets home but take a shower and then he plays with LIl Ray until I put him to bed. Then we eat after I've taken an hour or two to cook a casserole. I don't know why he can't clean the dishes, how hard is it to put them in the dish washer? Really, you'd think I asked him to cut off his arm! Then he goes to bed by nine and I still have laundry some days. I'm here all day with Lil Ray and when he takes his nap, so do I. What? No I don't work, just what I do around the house, I play with the baby almost all day. I ain't got time to be doin all that mess, I have to spend that time with my baby. I don't spend every minute with him, I watch a few shows on TV for a while after I put him in his playpen. I just told you, I can't miss my shows. Well, anyways, he ain't coming back...Lil Ray ain't his, he just always says he is...if he was a good daddy, he'd help his mama at night after he gets home. He plays with him until I put him to sleep, he buys all his clothes and stuff. I don't have to work, he makes plenty of money for us. What? I thought you were my friend, and you gone say, now I won't be playin all day with my baby cause my lazy behind will have to get a job! You know where you can go you hootch. She hangs up her phone with a loud snap and is still complaining, she turns to look at me. She has this indignant look, Can you believe she gonna talk to me that way? I politely said, well from your end of the conversation, you should have kept him. A man that has a good job, and will work that many hours and is willing to love and treat a child that is not his as if he is...will be snapped up before you can get back on that phone and call him. She didn't answer me back, she just looked at me sort of funny. I thought as she was leaving, I have two X's I should send her way. She would be groveling at that man's feet for him to come back. I'm sure this man has his faults, but a man that works that many hours, comes home and spends that time with his family can't be all bad. It makes me wonder if we have gotten away from exactly what a partnership is...she stays home all day. Shouldn't she have planned her day so that the house work gets done, cook dinner early, they eat as a family, spend time together and all go to bed at the same time? Yeah, I know it sounds simple, I also know its next to impossible to accomplish. lol It is even more next to impossible when you have to deal with a chronic illness every day of your life. So, just do the best you can and hope your Zetch and LIl Ray just know you appreciate them. |

Too many of our young ones have an air of entitlement to them. They graduate from high school after much prompting from exhausted parents, and they get a C but they pass, and then when they apply for a job, they want the manager spot, or the CEO spot, or at least to not start at the dange bottom! Work ethic got replaced in that new dictionary language with WTH or LOL. We live in an instant reward society. If you want that game, jewelry, car, or house...put it on credit! cause im good for it! we will worry about how to pay it off later.
I warned my children that if you get that $1000 credit card and run it to the max (which dont take long) it will take you greater than 20 years to make minimum payments to pay off whatever you put on there. So, lets dream big and say its a TV with LCD and all the bells and whistles. Do you think in 20 years you will still want that same tV? or will there be something new out there with bigger bells and louder whistles? The trick is to not have what you want, but want what you have! The same goes for mates. 10 minutes into a relationship once the coitus is over folks tend to look at each other in the stark light of day with the beer goggles removed we look different. Im glad you spoke up to ms sassy pants. She was as I say "standing knee deep in a river, and dying of thirst" The man deserved better.

Hey there, Momma! Seems like whenever I start thinking of you and wonderin' how you're doing we get a post from you here! Must be our ESP working together, right?!
I hope you're doing well and things are going your way. We miss you here and your "porch posts"! Seems like I've been sittin' here on this porch for a while now waitin' on somebody to join me and bring some sweet tea and tomato sandwiches!

So much wisdom there. Thank you for sharing that! I used to hear similar comments from people that came into the Post Office, and I'd think, "Do you LISTEN to yourself???"

Seems to me some people are just plain selfish. They feel that the world revolves around them. Like they are entitled to more than anyone else has. I feel sorry for them because that has to be a terrible way to live.

My Momma's favorite saying comes to mind, in this situation..."Don't expect too much from those to whom God gave so little".
The idiot was probably brung up like that. Thanks for keeping the porch swing warm COK..
