One of them has a self-portrait for her avatar:

KathyM 08-16-2007 12:09 PM

Don't fall for her tricks, Cindy. She only LOOKS friendly. :D

tovaxin_lab_rat 08-16-2007 12:13 PM

Hasn't that person been on America's Most Wanted? Or was it America's Funniest Videos? One of the loser ones? :D

KathyM 08-16-2007 12:27 PM

I think you're onto something, Cheryl. I seem to remember going on a blind date with him a very long time ago. We strolled the Board walk together. :D

Ah-ha! You've been feeding them coffee made with Texas water! That explains everything! :D

Aw, man - busted....or should I say ROASTED! :D

AfterMyNap 08-16-2007 01:18 PM

Here's another one's avatar. Sheesh. Be sure to click on that thumbnail.

BwithT 08-16-2007 02:21 PM

OMG you guys, I am having soooo much fun reading this thread. :Tip-Hat: I actually post on Healthboards quite frequently (and have yet to be banned  ). I agree that there are 1 or 2 people on each board that "run" the place and heaven help you if you disagree with them. :mf_argue:

One time, I was browsing a board that I have some proffessional knowledge of, and a couple people were really off base. I tried to smooth things over pointing out the flaw in the scare tactics that were being used on them. That really threw one of them into a rage, another person put their 2 cents in and next thing I know all posts from mine on were deleted for arguing! I guess EVERYTHING you read on the internet is true, even if it has no medical fact. If you point that fact out, the moderators say you are arguing.

I have been trying to sneakily (is that a word?) direct people here so that I don't have to go there any more. Literally, I will go to Healthboards until my head is about to blow up, then come here to have a good time. This is the best time on the net. :partytime2:

tovaxin_lab_rat 08-16-2007 02:33 PM

That's the same thing that happened to me on one of the boards. My posts have disappeared b/c I had the audacity to disagree with a very vocal member regarding something that I have a lot of knowledge about but she has more knowledge than I do! (or so she thinks!) Although hers is slightly misleading, mine is based on fact! But, I guess that didn't matter! At least not to the moderators!

ROFLMAO! :D :D

BwithT 08-16-2007 02:44 PM

The funniest thing of all is that I am not an uneducated person. I have secondary education as well as a lot of life lessons. I do not use the greatest grammar or have the best ability to spell, but I can usually formulate a somewhat intelligent sentence. When I read some of the posts of the self elected experts have, I have to shake my head. I grin, type as politely as I can and hope the sarcasm is not totally over their heads. Maybe I am trying to get banned after all. :D

Who us? paranoid? I think not! Nevah! Maybe I need some more drugs today. Decided to spend the day in bed, maybe this concussion headache will subside.

Corkybird 08-16-2007 07:58 PM

I don't know WHO they are, but if they look like any of the pictures you all have posted...I'm sure not going there!!! LOL I've had enough of the secret people from "the other place" that isn't healthboards..ha ha. Here is the bestest (that is a word isn't it? )...cause we can laugh, say what we want, and not worry about someone immediately banning us or shaking a finger at us.
keep us laughin gals, that's what keeps us "normal"...whatever normal is!!! LOL

BwithT 08-16-2007 08:48 PM

I work in a men's prison so my idea of normal is more than just a little warped. That's why I like it here so much. :Viking:

My sister used to be a county sheriff...so here goes the joke...are you on the inside looking out or on the outside looking in? LOL!

BwithT 08-16-2007 09:00 PM

Right now I'm not sure. I had back surgery 14 weeks ago and will be off work for a minimum of 1 year. It is a job I love so right now, I guess I am on the outside looking in. :(

My surgery was a result of a work injury. Given my occupation, I really need to come up with a better story. I was taking out the garbage! :nopity: I managed to herniate 3 discs. Do you know how foolish that makes me feel??? :D

Yes I do. I am a landscape designer. About 4 years ago, I was just getting ready to start a huge commercial landscape job at an RV resort. I was out walking the two dogs. I had a cocker spaniel and a lab at the time (no cocker anymore :( ). It was early morning, and the place that I walked the dogs was up this little grassy knoll. As I was headed down the hill, I slipped (I do that!), and my left ankle went under and I heard this pop, pop. Oh, not good, I thought. I was about 50 feet from my RV. Dogs on leashes.

I tried to stand up...OUCH! Hmmm...not good. So, I hobbled...hop hop hop, hanging on to the trees, to the RV, threw to dogs inside and grabbed my truck keys, wallet and drove myself to the ER in this small town.

It's about 6:30 AM.

Yep, you guessed it. Broken ankle. And badly sprained, most likely torn ligaments. That was one pop.

I am by myself. DH is an airline pilot out on a trip. As usual. X-ray Tech is brutal with my ankle, has me in tears. It's Sunday. His day off. They can't set my ankle there, I have to go to Boise, 120 miles away. They've given me vicodin for the pain so 'officially' I can't drive

Since I am alone, they want to life flight me to Boise. NOT. Vicodin? I have MS, I take that stuff all the time. It doesn't do anything for me...yutz...

I convince the ER doc to release me in the care of another doc (whom he knows) to drive me home.

I spend the next 8 weeks in a blasted cast. Oh yeah.

Now, how am I gonna explain this? I've got a 55 acre job --- Rent a golf cart! :D

Got the job done. Won a huge award for the best landscaping of a new business for 3 counties!

So, yep BwithT, I understand! Long, hot summer with that stupid cast (and I have MS and of course, can't do steroids with a broken bone...)

Not even a job related injury! Dumb dumb dumb! The golf cart was fun tho! I kept it all summer, eventually bought it and terrorized the resort for 2 years! :D :D :D

I hope you get better soon! Find some fun things to do!

BwithT 08-17-2007 06:51 PM

Not laughing at you,

I am laughing with you. I could sit and trade graceful stories 'till the cows come home. My PCP just shakes his head when he sees me coming. His favorite one was when I cut my finger to the bone trimming my christmas tree with a kitchen knife (you use what's handy). He keeps telling me if I come in with another cut like that he is going to make my DH hide all my knives from me.

TireSlasher 08-18-2007 08:53 AM

I think I will go over and join, and cause some type of major uproar. :D

Should I? Oh no! Not TireSlasher!!

My name alone would probably get me banned.

Let's take bets on how many posts it will take for him to get banned!

KathyM 08-18-2007 12:02 PM

Sorry guys, I'm feelin' like a ragdoll - and a fuddy duddy one at that. :o Guess I've seen way too many friends destroyed in my lifetime, so I have a question for anyone here.....:(

Which is more important:

a) Health, compassion, truth
or
b) Destroying your enemies, by whatever means possible?

If, by some chance, your "enemies" decided to gather their forces and attack this board - would it be okay with you to see this board destroyed? :(

BwithT 08-19-2007 12:26 AM

Kathy - At heart I know you are right, but it is still fun to talk about. :Thats-Funneh: And I did get my first nasty email from the administrator today, for inapropriate use of the report bad post feature. Lets get a life here. I reported my own redundant post that I knew the mod would scold me for. :Soapbox: What, were they mad because I pointed it out before they had a chance to publicly humiliate me?

Therefore: Tireslasher, Go for it! :partytime2: I say you can successfully get banned in 2 posts.

KathyM 08-19-2007 07:09 AM

BwithT - Playing with your posts, huh? Shame on you for such a display :p I've been told it can make you go blind. :D

Yeah, I've been kicked around a time or two on boards too. For me, the worst was over 5 years ago when the TV advertised an "Ask the White House" site to ask a free question.

I asked my question, but then had another question. I guess we were only allowed one because when I submitted my second question, I got a big warning on my screen saying: "You can also e-mail us, using the left-hand sidebar on every page. We should warn you, though, that George Walker Bush is not amused by spam mail. He is the commander-in-chief of the United States Armed Forces. He will hurt you."

I just wanted a definition of "sacred land." Maybe we're only supposed to question people once, then leave it at that. Never even got an answer to my first question. I hear it's no longer a free site, but I ain't going back there. I wouldn't even send Tireslasher over there. :p

I hope you'll be able to find some help with your back on this site. Good people here. :)

BwithT 08-19-2007 11:51 PM

Oh NO Kathy!!!! You do realize you are being watched by the secret service. They don't take kindly to us everday people communicating with the Pres. Well, I'll just bet there is a van parked outside your house right now with a funny antenia on top, with lots of empty doughnut containers in the nearest garbage. You better put on a tin foil hat so they can't read your mind, oops that's aliens. :D

On a serious note, I do love NeuroTalk. This forum has the warmest and friendliest members of any of the forums I have seen. Although the members are suffering dearly with any number of tramatic illness, they still take the time to have some fun and make everyone feel welcome. :grouphug:

TireSlasher 08-21-2007 05:15 PM

I joined. :D

My screen name is "Disgruntled."

StormChick 08-21-2007 05:20 PM

I got banned there once, but it didn't stop me from registering another account there LOL

BwithT 08-21-2007 08:18 PM

Hey TireSlasher, where are you posting, I am going to see if I can find you! How many posts do you think you can get in before being banned? :D

I posted to one of the guys on the back problems board who has Chiari Malformation about an October 07 episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition. They built a house for a family in Billings, MT. She is very active in ACM1 causes and publishes a national newsletter, both her and 1 of her 3 daughters have been diagnosed with it. When I checked the next day, my post was gone. No nasty from the Mod, no e-mail from the admin, just gone. I think I didn't break their rules per say, but they didn't want me promoting a TV program. Jerks! :icon_mad:

*TWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*

(that's the sound of my Acme Thunderer gym whistle)

Listen up all of you:

I am having pangs of guilt about board-bashing so much, so how about we tone it down a little and just nurse the wounds of those who come after us?

I guess I'm having the "one bad apple" thoughts that we are letting a few unfortunate individuals represent an entire population of people who, like us, are struggling with life-changing conditions.

I'd feel badly if a HB regular came here and felt unwelcome by association. It really doesn't paint NT in a good light.

So, I now invite you all to join me on the higher road... sort of.:)

Curious 08-22-2007 11:22 AM

just watch out amn doesn't shove you down the other side once you get to the top. she is the queen of the hill you know.

yeppers. i agree. people are finding us for a reason. no biggy at all about sharing what happened...but we want all to feel comfortable here and to find the support and help they were seeking but not finding.

happy posting. my pm box is always open. :D
