Default Hi supermoo

If I could magically transport all of you down here with me, I would. I did move here because my mom hated the cold as she got older, and well I stayed when she passed on. I remember one year, after a two week trip down here, that I cried all the way home to Missouri I didn't want to go home! I was down here in three months flat, had an auction, sold the house and took off not even having a place to stay. No regrets except for the storms. Stay warm and be careful up there to my snow friends. ginnie

Brrr...it is FREEZING here! snowing to beat the band, a thick layer of ice under it, and I have to go out for an appointment!

I hope all are well, happy, and snuggled under their blankie watching a great movie.

Hi Everyone!

Dej - No warm blankie for me today. It's supposed to be in the mid to upper 70s today. We're supposed to drop back down, thank goodness! I hope you make it back home safely today.

Ginnie - I just read an article this morning about "retiring" and where to retire. They did say to retire where you feel happy - not necessarily where it is warm. You found your happiness in FL and that is fantastic.

Jackie - Hi there! I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle. I will keep him as well as your family in my prayers.

B2Y - "Walked around the house trying to look important." I do that too and I walk around trying to look busy.

Debbie - Goodness! I was warn out just by reading all that you did. You are such an amazing woman! You always inspire me to do more.

Allergies are bad again so it's yet another slow day for me today. Still in my jammies and hanging on the couch. My massage therapist brought some books over for me to read. Yeah!!! I was so excited. I felt like a little kid at Christmas time. Anyhow, today I am just going to be a lady of leisure and read.

Have a good day!

Default Hi tkrik

You are so right. I was happy here, and stayed in a better health condition for many years. The only thing I freak about is the storms. I am on a barrier Island, maybe stupid on my part to have bought out here, but none the less I am here. The evacuations are terrible to go through, and summers are always a worry, and it is constant for 6 months or so. I don't mind the heat. It's just that the older I get with being disabled, the less I want to go through the whole shebang of evac. I may move inland about 40 miles, out of the flood plane. I would still stay in the state. When I moved here, nobody really worried about hurricanes, but weather patterns are indeed changing. The beaches need constant re-nourishment now, which I think means the oceans are rising. Could be wrong, but maybe I'm right. Still I wish all of you could come here to get you out of the bitter cold. Stay warm my friends up north. ginnie

Severe thunderstorms here today. I went back to bed at about 8 AM and it was pouring. Good sleeping weather. We're under tornado watches and warnings today. It's like Spring. High 60's but it's supposed to drop back a little to the 50's in the next day or so.

I've been dizzy and lightheaded for days now. The barometric pressure changes really effect my balance and cognitive skills. I can tell such a big difference when the weather is stable.

I need to get a few items at the grocery store and I'm hoping that one of my sons can come by this weekend - probably tomorrow - and help me out.

I've got a good book to read and this is a good day to curl up o the couch and do just that.

Hibernating here in Illinois. We got about 1/2 inch of freezing rain last night. There were dozens of accidents last night. I think the streets are getting better, but my driveway and sidewalks are a sheet of ice. I did my taxes this morning, changed sheets on my bed and cleaned bathroom, and have been playing word with Friends on FB. I am supposed to meet friends for an early dinner but I think I am going to cancel. Streets are not too bad but sidewalks and parking lots are still a sheet of ice.

Happy Sunday all...cloudy here...

Trish, is it the dust that gives you such severe allergies? Poor thing...
B2Y...
Jackie, sorry to hear of your uncle's health problems...prayers for him and all your loved ones...
Barb, I hate ice on the streets...rather have the 9" of snow we got the other day...at least it's drivable...and quit killing me on words with friends (wink wink)
Kitty, I thought of you this morning after hearing of the bad storms down your way...hope everything is all right...

DH and I finally got around to cleaning out the kids' closets. Had to, since they looked like Hoarders' closets...couldn't even walk into them. We tossed quite a bit, and filled 2 boxes with electronics to give to charity, some even unopened...next weekend will be spent emptying our closets and installing the closet organizers we bought. I've been begging for them for years. Can't wait
We also ordered a new bathroom vanity for our powder room to match the kitchen cabinets. We had already bought a vessel sink and a faucet. By the time we move in a few years it will be a completely refurbished house. And I hope easier to sell...
I was very cranky yesterday...then, at bedtime, realized it was my mom's birthday. I always get cranky/weepy when I encounter my parents' birthdays. After a good cry in DH's arms, I felt a lot better...I finally felt my sister's absence...couldn't call to talk to her about all our funny stories about Mom to cheer me up

Oh well...the reality of death makes living that much more precious, IMO...

Have a good evening, friends...

Debbie I lost my sister a few years ago, too, so I know how much it hurts.

It's been a cloudy, dreary weekend here. Heavy rain yesterday and just drizzly and overcast today. Matches my mood.

DS came by this afternoon and took me to the grocery store so I could get a few things. He and his GF were going to meet some friends for dinner in Atlanta so they just stopped by here before going down there. It's fun to shop with young folks!

Gotta go feed the outside kitties and give them some fresh water. They're getting so big. I wish I could get a picture of them but they run when I take the camera outside to snap a pic. Maybe I can figure out how to get a good one from inside.

I hope everyone has a good evening and a good week.

Freezing drizzle and freezing fog here today; supposed to have thunderstorms tonight I continued to hibernate today. Tomorrow, I must venture out to go to school.

I've started to post, deleted, started again so many times lately, I can't remember what I've actually said! Duh!

I'm tired and a bit discouraged tonight. Sometimes "little" things are more complicated than they seem on the surface. We've had my daughter's cat for almost two months. He's clean, he's polite, he's lovey and mushy...but he fights with Cindy (one of our 10 year old Himmies)--he's scratched her little nose twice, and I'm afraid he's going to hurt her (or vice versa!)

And Peach, Cindy's half-sister, is smaller and timid...she's terrified of him and spends most of the day in a kitchen chair. We have to watch them every minute, which is starting to get really old.

People would say, Hello, it's just a cat. But it's way more complicated than that. Our fostering Cooper is the only way my daughter can get him back when she can find a place to live that allows cats. And she's VERY attached to her cat. My son says let them duke it out, but it's getting traumatic for our cats, and I don't want them to hurt each other!!

Anyway, that's more than you wanted to hear about this, I know. We'll figure out something, but for right now I feel like the Secret Service following them around protecting them all the time. Haven't had a nap in two weeks and I never really relax. I know it's stupid, but that's what it is.

I told Cooper the rules when he moved in: You can meow all night, you can eat us out of house and home, you can shed as much fur as you want. Just don't hurt my cats. Guess he wasn't listening.
