Some people watch NASCAR races to see the wrecks. I expect Nik Wallenda will make it across Niagara Falls uneventfully. I'll watch because I'm fascinated by the family. "The Wallendas trace their fearless roots to 1780 Austria-Hungary, when ancestors traveled as a band of acrobats, aerialists, jugglers, animal trainers and trapeze artists." (chron.com)
He will be wearing a tether, which he hates. "I'm wearing a tether because they're making me wear a tether," Wallenda said firmly at a news conference on the Canadian side of Horseshoe Falls on Wednesday...If anyone thought the safety rope would lessen the drama of the event, Wallenda insisted the opposite was true. In fact, the scion of the famous Wallenda clan of high-wire artists, whose great-grandfather Karl Wallenda fell to his death during a 1978 high-wire act in Puerto Rico, is so averse to safety gear that it makes him nervous to wear it."I don't trust it. It's not the way my mind works," said Wallenda." (latimes.com)

I watched it on GMA this A.M. too. Not sure if I will watch it tonight or not. I have watched the Wallendas in the past. There were a few who did die.

I've been watching the "pre-show" now for over an hour! There's alot of preparation for this stunt. I cannot fathom how far he's walking...they said it was 1/3 of a mile or the length of 4 football fields. How he'll keep his balance with all that fog, mist and wind is beyond me. I pray he makes it across. From someone who cannot even keep her balance on flat ground.....

I have a live stream up from CTV, but I can't get any sound. Can you tell me please how long it is until "the walk" ?

The countdown says two minutes, so he starts walking about 10 after the hour. I heard it should take about 35 minutes.
