We are hitting 90 these days and haven't had rain for SOOOOO long. It bites.
I wish we could take some of your rain. :) |
Pssssst - hey Junkie
I hear there's some really strong water in Texas - they say it can stand all by itself. If it can stand, chances are it can walk. I also hear some people in Texas are willing to give it it's walking papers. Wouldn't hurt to give them a call. :D |

When we first moved there, we were staying in quarters on base and had breakfast at the club. I ordered coffee and as usual, put a little sugar in it. I took a sip, and cringed. Thinking I had accidently put salt in it instead, I asked the steward for a new cup of coffee. He just laughed at me and said, its the water, not the coffee! From then on I learned to put a bit of cream in my coffee to hide that gawd awful taste! So, yep, Texas water is hard and can probably stand on its own! Sure made it difficult for washing clothes! Drip dry had a whole new twist -- stiff as a board! LOL! |
LOL Cheryl - bet you didn't do much sitting :D
Uh, yeah, coffee isn't supposed to taste salty. I used to work in a high-rise corporate office building. Not only did the coffee taste like rotten eggs, you could see an oil slick in your coffee. Black coffee isn't supposed to look like rainbows. They kept assuring us the water was safe, but it tasted so nasty we started bringing in our own coffee. We all worked very long hours, so we brought picnic sized thermoses to work. I thought it was kinda cute. I could always tell my people in the parking lot and lobby - looked like they were all headed to a picnic. My boss, however, said it looked like an "F'n bucket brigade," so he made me put a stop to it. I told him his people won't work for him if they don't have any coffee, so we compromised and he allowed me to order bottled water to use in the coffee machine. Ten years later, it was "discovered" the water had been badly contaminated all along. I feel so sorry for the people who live in that area. :( I'm so glad I'm not taken in by every rainbow I see. Some of them taste like ice cream, some of them taste like rotten eggs. :p |
The ones that taste like ice cream don't smell like rotten eggs tho! Unless you have no sense of smell, they are pretty easy to tell apart!
Sounds like you and I would have gotten along pretty good in that office! I worked in a office by myself - well I was the only employee that worked IN the office so coffee was easy. It was when I had coffee in restaurants - they were so used to it that on one thought twice about it. It was, however, an acquired taste! I eventually got used to it and stopped putting cream in my coffee. I guess when you work for the Navy and learn to drink Navy coffee (don't ever clean the pot), you can learn to drink anything after a while! That's an acquired taste too! |
 We left FG alone to long and she fell and bonked her nog!
