How cool that you got to live in Hawaii KD!

How long?

(Next time I go to Hawaii I will do more than the mom stuff. I will lay on the beach, I will do the tourist stuff. What did I do? Stocked the kid up on food from Sam's Club and bought him clothes at the mall. You know, mom stuff!)

I lived there as a teen...on the windward side of Oahu. :) Alot of water and fun. :)

Hmm, what do y'all look forward to the most at the beach?

I like burying my feet as deep as I can in the sand, pull them out and do it again...lol.

KD

Me too kimmy! I even like to build sand castles!

My first year, I did Island hopping (back in 94) and found that the 'kick back and relax Island' is Maui...Oahu is too Park Avenue for me :p

We like to rent a condo for two weeks...and only go out to eat for the Luau's and dinner cruise's, and also to wet my appatite for Mexican and Margaritas. Going grocery shopping there is such a blast...not much more expensive then Alaska, but the fun part is all the assortment of local goodies. I also like to stop at the road side mom and pop stands for some of the best Aloha you can find.

The rough part is getting ready to go...not easy to find swim suits here, and have to do the fake and bake to start a tan...otherwise, we blind the locals

I like going to The Big Island! Less people, nicer beaches. Kona is great! Good coffee!!! Nice Botanical Gardens too...Hilo has a great one! ;)

That's where I want to go next....that is ONE LONG FLIGHT though! Here to Maui is 5 hours....the big Island I think is pushing 8 or more? Not sure...we were thinking about 'house swapping' sometime...lots of Islanders come here....something about Alaska and Hawaii that bring us together like family...we get each other LOL!!! Tourists are more of an amusement <grin>

Oh Taffy! You got to go scuba diving, Luau, Dinner Cruise....rent a car and drive to Hana...ummmm H..A..N...A....LOL!!!

I say we all schedule it together and leave the kids home :)

We lived there for almost three years. My father was a marine, so we lived on a marine corps air force base on the very tip of the windward side...literally surrounded by water everywhere in walking distance. :)

I love that too about anywhere I go. That was my favorite part when I went to the Bahamas...that and the beaches and the cool thing is that alot of mom and pop stands were right on the beach. :)

Some of the most beautiful sunrises and sets I've seen in my life were in HI. Honestly, when we were coming back on the plane, I looked out the window and the sky was literally split in half evenly with a straight line separating dark from light. That has to be the most amazing thing I've seen in my life.

Goosebumps!!! I get upset when I have to leave...they have to drag me on the plane!! Here's a picture to keep us all warm while we dream of the Islands

We have found that the "kick back and relax" Island is the Big Island. All the rest are too touristy...and expensive. Kailua Kona area is the best for avoiding all the tourist traps!

You can fly direct into Kona Airport. It's an 8 hour flight from here.

Hey, the only reason I go to Oahu is to see my kid!

Geez, I can go cheap. Well, when I go over, I get a motel room. (nice one)

When the DH goes over....(he-he! sleeps in apartment on the floor) No thanks!
