It was a bittersweet moment for me because it was the same stable where I used to work. So many fond memories. I started crying as I walked toward the barn in my frail legs, knowing I'll never be able to ride again. I tried to be happy for the riders, but I started crying again when my friend told me I used to look beautiful when competing. Now I'm just a "freak" with a distorted face for strangers to gawk at and laugh.

Hey Kathy,I know that feeling completely! I used to play college Basketball and got injured, dislocated both knee caps,I was tripped going in on a lay-up,and hit the floor hard! That put me out of the game for good, major surgery! I feel the same way when I'm flipping through the channels on the TV,and see a Basketball game on! Or I'm walking through the sports section at the store and see a Basketball,I automatically want the ball, then remember,I can't play anymore! You're not alone there,my friend,I know how it feels to lose your passions, and be reminded of them over and over! It's tough! But I feel for ya!

99.9% of my friends are still in California, while I'm stuck up here in Utah still! But at least I still have them for when I return, even though they're gang-bangers,and drug-dealers,they are good friends to me.They are a hell of a lot better than most of the population here in Utah! Can I get an Amen KathyM! :D

Tell me about your friends!

She's not kidding about the "germs!" Don't touch her stuff! And Heaven forbid you put fritos on the hotel room end table without putting them on a napkin! You'd of thought it was the end of the world! OMG! The guy next door heard her yelling at me! But the ice cubes sure were nice! :D

Hey Sea - a Navy Wife here - I completely understand. Civilians just don't get it do they!

I don't like germs either.... AND< you don't sit or lie on the hotel comforter either FG!!! EWWWWW.... That's one thing AMN and I have in common....

I carry Lysol w/me when I travel....

PS:: Kathy: the big bad world can sometimes be mean and lonely, but I tell myself that there are many more good people out there than bad.

I'm glad to meet you here.... I think anyone would be glad to be your friend, you sound so interesting.... Thank your son for me, too.

DON'T YOU WATCH DATELINE!?!

I'm not one to believe in the idea of a "best" friend. My friends are all best at different things and they each fill unique areas of my life. Like Greta said, I guess they're all sort of "compartmentalized". I don't like their germs, either.
