Default Another blizzard!

Is anyone else snowed in?

My windows are covered with the stuff. When it finally ends, the only way we'll be able to get out of the house is to pull a Santa, and climb out through the chimney.

We are opposite on the west coast, unseasonably warm & mild...60 degrees today and beautifully sunny...
But our mountains are very low on snow pack...
a normal snow pack helps to keep the large rivers full all summer..

Despite your 'snowed-in' state, or lack thereof, I enjoy hearing what's going on around the World. I travelled Europe, lived in Cyprus, when younger - this is, in a small way, a connection to the Outside I have lost.

Dave.

We got all excited because we heard a plough coming down our road - then it got stuck.

Sometimes it scares me that I am descended from people dumb enough to immigrate to this frozen wasteland. Although, in fairness, we do have a lovely summer - all nine days of it.

Wow, you really have climate extremes.

Where I live, we never complain about the heat - it doesn't last long enough for us to formulate a negative sentence.

We have a recently started 'Reality' prog/Social Experiment here, 10,000 B.C. where 20 Brits are stripped of everything modern and sent back to the Stone Age in a Bulgarian forest - foraging, hunting, fishing. Skins, furs and wicker huts were provided - fire had to be mastered.
After 10 days, 5 had quit. After 12 a freak snow storm hit. As they were down to a few berries and the sum total of hunting and fishing was a few crawfish and a mouse, yes moUse, they were pulled out for 7 days.
How did our ancestors survive much worse to pass their heritage down to us - and how, as Western Civilization, did we become so soft and so removed?

Dave.

Wimps. They outta try negotiating the world with a disability. A lot of us need more ingenuity and fortitude, just to get our bodies out of bed in the morning.

Wimps is too soft a word. I was angry at tonight's episode. Those of us with disabilities persevere. Disaster survivors bond and survive. Indiginous tribes live their lives proudly. This rabble - after 3 weeks - are down to 6, squabbling about the food PROVIDED for them and missing the 21st Century, and left one of their own sick on the ground for 15 minutes with pneumonia before offering help.
Watching them, I'm ashamed to be English.

Anyway, how's the snow? Lost any more ploughs? Got any Polar Bears?

Dave.
