Default Our "Stuff"

I would post George Carlin's youtube on "stuff" but I have a hard time posting links, if anyone is interested you can find it with the above words.

Today, I got some E N E R G Y and threw a bunch of "stuff" out that was in my mind for a while... I took a large bag of "stuff" to goodwill last week, and for for me it's so lifting to get rid of stuff that I longer use or need....and I do this often when I get the energy...

I threw out the last of my painting life, I painted acrylic abstracts from 2003-2006, had a great time and my apt is covered with my works and some friends have some hanging on their walls too....but I'm done with that, no more interest or Energy or Motivation to do anymore. So out went the last of the supplies....ahhhh

Also out went some other stuff that I did not want ... so I feel "lighter".

A friend's husband died recently after almost 60 yrs of marriage and he bought and saved EVERYTHING....she is left with cleaning out that house and still more to go of his long long years of buying and keeping "stuff"....

My sister and I were the ones who cleaned out the last of my parent's house when dad died in 2005, so I know all that pain...my sis with her walker as she deals with MS, and me in the throws of Fibro...we did it all with some hired help too.

So, I'm doing all I can NOW to lighten up the load for my daughter.

I have lost so much desire, motivation, ENERGY, you name it since hip job in 2010....I know aging is a major major part of it, but it seems that surgery made things so worse.....

STUFF.....get rid of things no longer needed, I'm sure a lot others could use that stuff...

Thumbs up

Kudos to you! I think about all the accumulated "stuff" and what will become of it often. My husband on the other hand, says why worry about it? I'd like to lighten the burden on our children and have memories of clearing out my parents' things when they passed away. I try to clean out little spaces here and there but he has difficulty letting even rubber bands go.

My parents had a hard time of letting go of stuff, my sister and I tried each time we visited them, it's got to be the lives from depression....holding on to everything. This friend who lost her husband was a pack rat and has hangings all over their house from their travels of the world....enough is enough I say. She said he loved cowboy hats and she found about 25 after he was gone...... then there are the horders a whole other "sickness".....

I have no problem letting go and do it often...no husband to hold me back and I know my daughter and grandkids could care less about most of my stuff....they are collecting all
their own stuff..

For me, being in SOM (Science of Mind) philosophy/principles for decades, we're taught to create vacuums in our lives so we can put something new into our lives, and give others our things we no longer need or want....I did that for many years, got rid of t-shirts so I could buy a new one, etc....now I don't shop much anymore, so I just get rid of stuff that hangs around. Once I had piles of tshirts, now very few, the ones most necessary in my life...

SIMPLICITY...

I do the same though for me it is a New Year resolution.

I look at all the bits of paper that I have acquired over the year and ask "Do I need to keep this?" Almost always the answer is "No" so it goes into my paper-recycling bin.

I'm one of those people who thinks everything has a "place". I cannot tolerate any kind of clutter or unorganization. I suspect it was my mother who instilled that trait in me.

I immediately throw away (recycle) any junk mail and only save receipts for large item purchases that might need fixing down the road.

My DS and DIL brought a few things for me to keep here at my house since I have the extra space. Some of it is furniture pieces that I've incorporated into my own decor. There were many small boxes which I stacked in my closet (it's a walk-in so lots of floor space).

My next project will be to get the garage cleaned out. Both of my sons have "stuff" out there but if you were to ask them what it was they'd not be able to tell you! Which is why I believe it can be tossed or recycled. I've threatened to leave my garage door open 24/7 with a sign that says "you take it....it's yours".

Just saw a book and the Title is Less is Best or something like that.. And it's about decluttering and living a more minimalist qality like with LESS to complicate our lives. All Americans habe and are there...
