We are still chilly here for FL but tomorrow should warm a bit and now they are forecasting some thunderstorms ahead of above average winter 80s here for New Year. How is that for a weather rollercoaster! Coldest consecutive days I have experienced in my many years here!

But oh my how I feel for the areas still dealing with what this winter storm has brought.

Yes, they do. The cold leaves them unable to grip. or even move.
Most recover once the weather warms. They can injure themselves, and people, in their falls...and because so many, in some areas, quite hazardous I am told.

I had to look up about the Iguanas after you posted the other day. I looked up some Florida news sites and it showed them falling and trying to turn over.

Your area would be full of tropical type flora too I suppose and that wouldn't deal well with such intense weather especially after all the flooding not long ago.

Heatwave passed in my area. They don't last so long. I'd rather be overheated for a week than deal with what you're all dealing with actually. Everything fine here although I feel it brewing and there's a monsoon trough looming up further north. I started stocking up on water yesterday. Get it delivered. If the pump goes out I have no water and I don't drink the ground water. Can't wait to move and have my own home again. If a cyclone heads my way, and it just may, I'm out of here somewhere, somehow. Not sure how really. As you know there's not much notice.

Photos I've seen in the news are horrific really. Some out of Buffalo. Just shocking

640mm in 6 days. Just over 25 inches.
Some areas nearby have had over 1000mm (39inches) in 6 days.

Just a quick note to say I was very saddened to see such devastation from the tornadoes across the USA. I hope everyone we know is safe. It surely has been a very few years of weather catastrophes and odd events. Doesn't seem to be letting up.

Everything's so different here now. I don't like the feeling.

Anyway, that aside, I am hoping that everyone, in all geographic zones, are safe and well. I read an article recently about our fires of 2019/2020. They were just as the pandemic began and the memories and assistance for that petered out. I read how they were so massive that the amount of ash that was spread triggered global temperature changes in the ocean which in turn lead us to have three La Nina (wet for us) events each year since. Now the tide is turning and the oceans are heating up again and we will have an El Nino event (hot, drought for us). Hopefully things will normalize soon, it's all freaking me out a bit.

I feel for everyone in situations that are so frightening especially with fires and floods and the dangers involved and the horrific clean ups ahead.

I'm doing all right but like you finding it hard to adjust to drastic changes in climate such as most of us are encountering. It was 108' here the other day, breaking yet another record.

But we're lucky not to have been badly affected by the wildfire season (yet) though the air hasn't been good. People losing their entire homes and everything they own in fires are so sad.
Or in floods. Or in hurricanes or tornadoes.

I pop by everyday I can to check. If you ever need to chat do it here or in pm or wherever you want it doesn't matter.

I've had a tough few months with a problem showing up on my last 3 monthly PET/CT but after MUCH ado it's all fixed and it was not melanoma so I'm very lucky. Everytime something like this happens I have another existential crisis mode set in until I know I'm ok. In the middle of all that i had a shocking fall but didn't break one single bone but shook me to the core for nearly 6 weeks. Anyway, I'm doing better now. I remember how badly your last fall was and I hope you're taking care there so it never happens again.

Terrible in Canada and Maui with fires. I've been up the Okanagan valley there. It was quite the paradise environment with lakes and grapes and happy looking place to live. I hope those fires are out soon as possible. Maui. Well, never would have expected that in my wildest imaginations. So sad

I live in a very hot area so it's basically hot all year. Last year I said I don't think I can live though another hot year like that again. I can imagine the imapact the heat would have on your MS. and I'm sorry. It's also so expensive to cool environments these days. Use every trick you can think of to keep your body cool enough Agate. We can't deal with 108f temps, it's brutal.
