Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been online. I have been busy mowing the lawn and cleaning. Jim's old high school teacher is coming over Monday so we want the house all sparkly. I have become my mother. lol

Have a good day and stay healthy everyone! :grouphug:

We were shocked to find out that he was being underpaid at the company he was with for over 15 years! A little research might be enlightening.

Thanks for the encouragement Holly. My DH does look in the newspaper from time to time. He has also done some research in other ways. I'm going to try to get him to keep an open mind in case something falls in his lap. He does hear interesting things from time to time. I tried to get him to pursue a certain job once but he feared his current place would find out too soon. The two companies work together.

Well I am back from all my running around. Haircuts, school supplies, and food for all the upcoming socials. Glad to be home for the rest of the day!

Now unscrew the pipes and let the junk drain out. You may have to unscrew the U shaped pipe at both joints to get it all cleaned out.

Once it is cleaned out, put it back together. Carefully take the plastic bags out from under the sink and do what you want with them. (I throw them away).

For us, pasta is notorious for doing this. I have since stopped putting any pasta in our disposal.

Thank goodness for rubber gloves!!:eek: Tkrik the clog was on the other sink side...kinda where both sinks drop down too. I unscrewed the U shaped pipe and it didn't drain out...some of it did...guess what was stuck right in the middle...a drinking straw!:yikes:

Well, with the help of a dinner knife I was able to get it unclogged. I am now running the very full dishwasher finally!! Ick....Olhipie was watching from a distance...he told me I could make a fortune being a plumber. I told him I saved us a fortune...thanks to Tkrik!!

Hi everyone!

tk --Classes start on Monday. I am hoping that I feel better by than. Note to self -- Traveling a week before classes start is not a great idea.:eek:

I usually get up about 7:00 a.m. I will have to start getting up at 6:30 next week. Today, I woke up at 9:30 and have spent most of the day napping. I just managed to take my shower. I hope this is not the sign of a flare up.

I am going to try to go do something with my hair. I got a perm yesterday for the first time in a few years, and I am suffering from the poodle look.:rolleyes:

ditto, Trish !!

and early today, expecting company at 10 am, we started de-cobwebbing, and bathroom touch-up, and sweeping/mopping.

naturally, the power failed at 8 am. which means... no WATER, as that's how we pump the water from our cistern.

lol, I cleaned the lav and sink with BABY wipes, and hubby scrubbed the wheelchair ramp with a bucket of water hauled from the pond.

our guests left around noon, happily clutching fresh-baked baguettes (hubby) and a jar of mango jam (me, me, me! I made it! lol!)

and then, I got a REAL good nap to make up for yesterday's missed one.

and I know EXACTLY what you mean... I suddenly get sorta stupid, and mix word-order in my sentences when tired.

I call it my STUNNED mode.

hubby has learned to just say "Yes, uh huh, yes..." and TRY not to not laugh too much, as I sometimes get embarrassed about it.

:o :D :o

Tam, good job on the impromptu plumbing effort !!

50 gazillion points to you!

Vonn, Good luck with the paper, and congrats on the last one. :)

Frank, Glad to hear Deb enjoyed the gifts. :)

~~~~~~
Sitting here sipping my morning cup of java. woke up late. LOL, hubby said I slept so soundly, nothing he could do was waking me up.
Trying to figure out what to do today. I'm still a little rundown, but do know I'm hiding inside again. We have an air quality alert. I've been learning that means the heat will feel like it's slamming me in the chest if I step outside.:p
:grouphug: Hope everyone has a nice day today.
Kitty 08-22-2008 09:53 AM
Mornin' everyone. I went back to bed this morning after the boys left for work and have just gotten up! I needed the sleep, too.
This is the latest I've ever had my "morning coffee" but if I don't have it I'll get a wicked headache later.
Vonn - congratulations on the grade!! You go girl!! :You-Rock:
Frank - I'm so happy Deb enjoyed reading all the good wishes posted for you two. Have you set a date for Sonic yet? All this talk about it makes me want to go, too. We have one about a mile from my house.
Fin - I'm glad you finally got some good sleep!
Kay - I sure do hope you have your power back on. Isn't that just the worst? We really don't think about how dependent on it we are till it's gone.
Barb - good luck with the first day of school! That'll be the day you feel like you could sleep in but now you can't! :rolleyes:
Tammy - can you come look at a slow pipe I have in my bathroom? :D :D
We're not really getting much in the way of rain from Fay but we are getting the wind! I'm sitting here watching a sparrow desperately try and hang onto the railing of the bird feeder while it sways in the wind!! He's a determined little thing! Winds are forecast to be 25-30 mph today. Guess I can forget about my hair if I go anywhere outside! :p
Kevin is helping a friend move after work today. Matt will be home but he's getting ready to go to Jekyll Island (south of Savannah) for a police department function type thing. He'll heave tomorrow morning and be gone till Wednesday night. I hope they've missed the brunt of the storm.
I have nothing to do today but inside chores. I try to do just a few things each day and not completely wear myself out. Have to take little breaks in between activities but that's OK. I've learned how to pace myself.
Ya'll have a great day!! :)
