At $400, it's pretty expensive, but does anyone here have Amazon's ereader, Kindle?
Just wondering if you have anything to say about it, good or bad. I'm thinking of saving my pennies for one. I read in an article that Stephen King has one and he says he likes it. Hmmm.

That little bugger is pretty stinkin' cool, isn't it? The user reviews I've read at Amazon say that it really is like looking at paper. I don't know what the specific tech is, but they developed some way of being "kinder" to the eye.
They don't have that awfully many books available yet. I'm kind of holding out for the upcoming iPhone with extended capabilities. I'm anxious to have one thing with one charger, period. If you get one, Brain, I'm coming over to see it in action!

But does it smell like a book?
The first thing that my DS and I do when we read is to smell the book. There's no electronic device that will be able to recreate the intoxicating smell of an old library book, I'm sure. |

LOL, so true! I'm also in the bad habit of buying books, mostly reference or classics that I'm sure I'll read again. There is the most ridiculous rush I get when I peel pages out of the gold leaf in a brand new book. I love that crispy little noise.

I love the smell of ink and paper too. But there are no bookstores within an hour drive of here now. I rely on amazon, and sure, they have it if it's in print. But then you wait a week for it.
How cool to be able to download a book in seconds form anywhere! And to enlarge the font for my not so good eyes, not have to struggle to hold the book open when my hands are weak. They had 9,000 books when it first became available, and I think said they'd have over 100,000 titles soon, 250,000 within a year hopefully. That ought to hold anyone over. And I have 10 tons of books laying around now. Just another way to read, as I see it. And I love gadgets.
