I keep my eye on mine -- don't just give it to waiters to take away and bring back - go to the desk and watch them..
Same at gas stations watch them as they scan it and return it.

I don't have to worry about identity theft......nobody would WANT my identity!!!

My dear youngest son has either lost or had his wallet stolen more than once.

He just can't seem to keep track of these things and he is a grown man...

Anyway, one of his adventures was when he went to the gym, put his clothes and wallet in the locker and of course when he came out he discovered his wallet gone. He was about 20 then and in college. His credit card was one we'd given him.

Another time at a ski lodge he got in line for the lift tickets, took out his credit card to be prepared. He thought he put it in his pocket to have it easily accessible when he needed it. Instead he had dropped it and some enterprising soul took it and went shopping. They charged $600.00 by the time ds called the company.

In either case the Credit Card company did not hold him liable for the charges. In the first case the thief charged a significant amount by filling up his vehicles and likely most of his friends at a local service station.

We had the credit card statement so we took it to the local police station and showed them that it had been done at a nearby gas station. The officer in charge said "oh yeah, we are keeping an eye on that station". That's it. Never heard another word about it.

In the second case the nimble thiefs charged about $600.00 worth of ski apparal and goods.

My son always called immediately to the Credit Card company and so he was not held liable.

The thing that really bothers me is who has all his old ID? In these crazy times you just hate someone posing as you and who knows what that person might do?

True or not.....

If someone gets your card, writes down your name, credit card number, then flips it to get that code on back......then returns it to you or your locker, or whatever so you never knew it happened (even a waitress)

That's all they need to use it online.
