OH GAWD not Gloria! I swear if I had a dime for everytime I wanted to jump through the tv screen at that woman I'd be rich. Arghhh, you know how we hate people to pull certain cards. That woman pulls the poor poor woman card every time. I may have an answer to that poll now.

Being forced to remove the objects with pliers - as TSA employees got a good laugh out of it - seems a bit much. At the same time, though, I can't imagine that the removal was any more painful than when the piercings were done.

The situation makes a good case against nipple piercing.

I'd like to see a picture of this woman...in a tank top...before making a decision of this magnitude.

But that's just me.

I have only one thing to say

Of all the postings I have ever replied to: I never, in all my life, thought I would be posting about someone's pierced nipples.

I can't even post, I'm hysterical!!!

lol

Oh...... P-a-l-e-a-s-e!!

I naturally didn't vote on this and although I'm probably not qualified to reply, I'm going to anyway!

I just watched the video on that link that AMN provided, and all I can say is carp to her complaints!

OK, I admit that I don't know if she was aware or not, that should have removed her nipple rings prior to check-in, but I'd have thought that was pretty standard procedure these days. Even here in OZ, Sept 11 affected us as well, and our airports have tightened security to similar levels as the US have done.

As an RN who worked in hospitals and in surgical wards and the theatre suite, I can assure you that we had people come in for surgery with nipple piercings as well as those in areas that I'll not mention cause ...I'm a "nice" girl!

Each and every one of them had to remove their piercings prior to theatre, and not one of them asked for pliers to do it. They all managed on their own....nipple rings included. The ones pictured on that video are rather common place these days, for nipples, navals and the "etc" areas.

Maybe she deserves an apology for being embarrassed, but I can't comment on that without bias as I didn't see the news items about it.

Law suit?? Hello??!!

PS. Just ear studs for this little Koala!

I'm always amazed when I get my lighters through. Some catch it,some don't. I think I would AVOID a strip search myself....

As a result of all the attention that the request to remove the jewelry (with pliers) caused, the TSA has changed its procedures. The TSA promises that the same thing won't happen again:

I voted "idiot".

How would the security officers know that she didn't have a small explosive device hidden in her bra - or a knife or any type of instrument that could be used as a weapon?? In this day and age they have to think of every possible motive someone might have - and if she was hesitant about removing them then that probably made them even more suspicious. If I had been a passenger on that flight and there had been any questionable passengers (including myself) I would expect them to go above and beyond to make sure that everyone was safe and nobody got on that flight that didn't check out completely.

Who gets their nipples pierced anyway?? I'm sorry - guess I am just getting old - but that sort of painful mutilation seems excessive to me. Just my humble opinion but I can generate enough pain in my body without the help of anyone else.

Hasn't this woman seen everyone else taking off their jewelry and putting it in the little basket before? I'm sorry, but being offended or embarrassed doesn't merit a cash award. Get over it, learn from it and move on.

Now, I must tell the story about the time they made me put my clear, see through cane through the X-Ray machine. I just laughed my butt off through the airport wondering what more they were going to see in the X-Ray machine. It only happened one time in one airport (PDX), so I guess it was just that one agent who thought something might be concealed in the transparent lucite.

I just don't see how it benefits anyone to get an attitude even if you know that it is ridiculous and you know you aren't a threat.
