Be very careful when you place something on another person's car.People have bad tempers and if the offending person sees you going to their car, you never know, they may have a can of mace on them, or they just be in a bad mood and go off on you. I've seen this so many times, I can't tell you. One time (over 30 years ago), when my husband was a licensed private investigator, well, he carried a gun. He was parking his car and some nut came along in another car and started screaming at my husband for parking where he was parked. Alan didn't do anything wrong, but the other guy had entitlement issues and started to get out of his car and said "hey, I usually park here, get your car and move it. (now the guy was not waiting for this spot or anything like that, So Alan didn't take the guys parking spot), This guy just felt that because he parks there on a regular basis, that no one has the right to use this space EXCEPT HIM. ?????????????? So my husband, my quiet, non-combative husband, who had just pulled into the parking space, and was standing by the car, is looking at this guy who is in his face. The guy was screaming at Alan to 'GET THE F INTO HIS CAR AND MOVE IT'. What did Alan do?? He just opened the coat (Alan used to wear the gun in a shoulder holster like the cops do). Well, you should have seen the guy's face when Alan just moved to open his coat. The guy turned white, said "oh I'm sorry", got into his car and parked someplace else. But honestly, if Alan was not armed and had a more agressive personality, I do believe that nut would have hit him or something. People in cars, (well today anyway), well they have their issues. So I would be really careful before you place a magnet, or anything on another person's car. I guess if you could make sure that no one was around to see you do it. (THEN I WOULD WRITE THE WORD MORON ON A PIECE OF PAPER and scotch tape it to the windshield. I can only imagine if the driver saw me do this. There are nuts out there, that's for sure. BE CAREFUL!!!! Uh, Mel, I think we're mostly kidding around here. With all the surveillance equipment out there, it would be nearly impossible to do something like that without getting caught.
There are post-it notes and wiper cards that can be purchased but they're very diplomatically written. There is a cool website that began as a service to the bay area in CA and it's taking off quite well. I'm involved in trying to get one through our state police here. Check it out:http://www.handicappedfraud.org/ Of course, there are times when only a baseball bat can resolve a conflict. http://www.mchenrycountyblog.com/upl...0-7-757207.jpg |
I love that idea Cin! Kodak better get my camera back fast! lol

Now that is a great idea!!!!
Taking photos of cars that are illegally parked. I remember way back when Alan used to drive, we had the hanging handicapped thing that you hang on the mirror. Well, to look at Alan and me, way back then, we didn't look like there was anthing wrong with us. I guess you have to LOOK disabled for people to THINK it. So we got out of the car at our local Costco. Do you know that people came up to us and yelled "how dare you have a disability hanging thing, you don't look disabled". We each pulled out our medicare cards. Now how stupid were these people??? Oh brother. |
Yeah, that used to happen to Jim all the time. Now it happens to me. I usually get out first and then Jim rolls out. The mean looks are amazing and I just smile and stick my chest out knowing what they are about to witness will make them feel like a big turd. lol

Want to know what I would do (I mean, if we still had that car and Alan still drove).
I would make a sign (I probably would take a fan (the kind that the Japanese use). I would transform that fan by putting a piece of white paper over it. I would then write (IN BIG BLACK BOLD LETTERS) on the fan. DON'T GIVE ME THOSE LOOKS!! I AM DISABLED!!!! And when I got out of the car, I would hold the fan by the handle, if anyone approached me I would whip open the fan (like an accordian), put it in THAT person's face so they got a good look at it. Then I would close it, collapse it, put it in my purse and go about my business. Then when I exited the store, the fan would be in my hand and as I approached my car, if someone again has the audacity to approach me, I'd whip over the fan again. I'd be surprised if i didn't hit someone over the head with it too!!!! lol I'd really do this. You don't know me. I'm very inventive. |
Sadly, no one doubts my need for handicapped parking.:(
The retirement community in my area is huge, particularly in the winter so most of the parking spaces are taken for the winter months. I used to want to have a post-it note that I could stick on the window for perceived violations but with heart conditions, MS fatigue, all sorts of "but you look so good" people, I just try to give the benefit of the doubt to others. Besides, if there was road rage, I can be caught too easily! My friend is visually handicapped, even has the cane with the red tip. I guess a woman in an SUV could not wait for him to cross the parking space she wanted and pulled in front of him as he walked. He took the cane and began to beat the side panel! I like public humiliation...:D Safety in a public place! |
good for him I have come close , ask deb, to smacking a car ,that just wanted to push it and not wait and came too close. Its just awful that people can be such arrogant self centered shallow me me me to the point that they dont even see it, or do they see it and just dont get a dam, i try to go by what my mom and grams said what goes around comes around and in the oreder of ying and yang I often hope its true
