Why in the world would anyone want to walk on their tip toes? And we women wonder why we have so many muscle and bone problems. . . sheesh.

I know I sure as heck wouldn't wear 'em!

Actually, these pics were sent in an email and in the botton of the email, they showed an actual elderly Japanese lady with her FEET UNBOUND.

I did not want to include those photos in this thread. I didn't know if I would be breaking any protocol. I've seen photos of older women who have had their feet bound as children. They meet up and they wash their feet in some kind of meeting place. It's like an honor bound tradition for them.

These ladies are proud that they have their feet bound. This was done in centuries past, but it has been outlawed.

The shoes worn by people with bound feet are called Golden Lotus slippers. Men were attracted to Japanese women with little tiny feet. I can only imagine me living in Japan with my size 10 tootsies. They would have outlawed ME!!!

I had viewed a documetary on Discovery some years ago and found the whole thing fascinating. I mean, there are not too many elderly ladies left in Japan and they are the only ones with bound feet. It becomes too late to get them unbound. They are not pliable, and they are frozen in place.

I can't imagine parents doing this to their own children, but it was extremely acceptable back in the day, and men actually were attracted to the woman with bound feet.

I think the feet look terrible, but that's the way it was way back when.

But these shoes that I posted here. I can't imagine fitting into any of them. These woman must stand higher than 6 feet tall or better with these things on.

Perhaps if those men were bound in some places (Empathy man and Duct tape keep flashing in my mind) they wouldn't be so admiring of bound feet, Ouch!!!

I'm trying to wrap my head around why ANYONE in their right mind, would allow a young baby to have their feet bound. I mean, it has to be the most painful thing. I once read where it was done up to the age of 3.

Can you imagine??

jeez

Red face Obscene!

Those are just basically obscene.... designers pushing the envelop to do
something "new".... trying to make the small boned short Japanese look TALL!

You know the Japanese have some strange customs and ideas.
Their Anime cartoons are very strange, and they have porn ones too.
One concept they seem to love is the "tentacle monster".

If you Wiki it....you will be shocked. (XXX rated).
For that reason I won't put the link up. Google Tenacle monster, and it is the
first item up.

I had no idea about THIS until my son told me! SHEEEESH.

Shocked

Walk in those shoes? Heck, I couldn't even STAND in those shoes anymore! I used to LOVE wearing high heels, but geesh! Only a ballerina would be able to walk in those shoes.

That foot wrapping was strange, but I think our culture is starting to exhibit some of the same traits. Maybe I watch too much TV, but what's with all the plastic surgery? It seems just as barbaric to insert foreign objects into breasts, surgically rearrange faces, or inject botulism in order to make be more appealing to the opposite sex or society in general. I don't see much of a difference.

Mrs. D.

I googled Tentacle Monster. I HAD NO IDEA. Oh My God!!

I knew about Japanese anime. Never was much interested in it.

But like the Indians and the Kama Sutra, well, the Japanese have their Tentacle Monsters.

Not surprising, look how they encouraged foot binding for females.

What a nasty and painful thing to put women through.

I took another look at the photos and I can't imagine ANYBODY able to walk down the street in the black ones. The ones that look like ballerina shoes.

It makes the foot bend at such an unnatural angle.

I can only wonder what they devise next. Some other kind of torturous thing.

I once read where many woman are having their pinky toes removed so they can fit into DESIGNER SHOES.

Good God.

Oh, did anyone watch Ghost Whisperer the other day. They had Nikki Cox (formerly of Las Vegas), on as a guest. I'm looking at this 28 year old actress and I'm saying "what's wrong with her face". What's wrong with her mouth".

I wasn't the only one thinking this because I went on the Internet Movie Database, put in her name, and THE WHOLE MESSAGE BOARD WAS TALKING ABOUT HER LIPS!!!

It seems that she had implants put in. IMPLANTS IN HER LIPS??? People put implants in their lips?? Now I've heard of Resylane, and botox, and lip augmentation, but IMPLANTS??? They also say it's irreversible.

Her lips were so HUGE, I could not believe I was seeing what I was seeing.

My god, the things some women will do to their face.

Reminds me of Jocelyn Wildenstein.
