I jumped out of a plane at 3,000 feet.

I was only 19 years old. Friends decided to do it and called me to join them. We got a quick training and had to wait all day. By then, I had forgotten everything, being pretty hair-brained.

I was supposed to go third in line but #2 chickened out. I jumped out without thinking about the cord to pull in case the parachute did not open.

The number #3 parachute did not open. The boy had to pull his own. He threw up all night.

I had not given it a thought about counting and pulling. I might have been dead.

Crazy fact.

ummm, I can't think of anything right now.

well....my BIL (died this yr at about 50) was a CIA agent. He had an office in the Pentagon. It was struck on 9/11, but he wasn't there at the time.

Well, I was SHOT AT during the Rodney King riots!! I was a Paramedic back during those days and I worked in the City of Atlanta for a major EMS service. We were in a housing project called 'Eastlake Meadows' or as we called it 'Little Vietnam'. Someone started shooting at us while we were in the back of the truck. Bullets actually hit our unit. When we got to the hospital, I was shaking like crazy and crying, but I still had patients to take care of. That housing project is no longer there. It is a nice golf course because they tore it down!

My only other thing I can think of to share is that my husband graduated with Julia Roberts from Campbell of Smyrna High School in 1985. I met and shook her hand at their 10 year class reunion. She is as beautiful in real life as she is on the big screen. My husband has year books signed by her and she used to call him 'Bear'....just like all the other girls. I imagine we could make a few pennies off those if we had a mind to sell them but I think we will keep them a while.

Nice to meet you all!

Oh, now we are talking about MOVIE STARS.

ooh, I must share some of my stories.

I was 24 years old. I was at Radio City Music Hall, and I ran into Milton Berle. All 6 feet 3 of him (maybe even taller). He was wearing a top hat, tie and tails.

I will never forget this.

I said "oh my god, Milton Berle", and he just laughed and tipped his hat.

I have also walked down the street with Sidney Poitier (I was 18) he was coming out of a health food restaurant (wearing a kind of fisherman hat on his head and it had all bait things hanging off of it),and I walked with him and I kept saying " DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE??"
Another girl recognized him, and grabbed his left arm. He was carrying two packages. I was on his right.

He just kept saying "hello, hello". Oh my god, I made a complete idiot of myself.

I also chased down Robert Horton (he was on the tv show Wagon Train). He was wearing an orange jump suit, it was on Park Avenue, and I scared the heck of him. He ran for his life.

I also was 10 feet away from Kirk Douglas (this was over 35 years ago). He wore a beautiful full length camel coat. It was breathtaking. And when you see that cleft in his chin up close, well, that made my day.

And for the kicker, there is also an actor in MY family.

Anybody ever see the tv show TAXI, with Tony Danza.

Remember, they all gathered at the bar/restaurant at the end of their workday??

Well, there was the same bartender in all the episodes. He would have a few lines. He had quite a few lines in the episode where Latka is mooning over his lost love Simka.

That bartender was my mom's first cousin, T J Castronova. (They called him Tommy, in the series). He also produced some episodes of Tales from the Darkside.

Wow, it all comes back when you make your memory kick in!!!!

I saw Howy Mandell at "Children's Palace" (like Toys R Us). Wasn't sure it was him then at home while looking in the paper, I read he was in town. (It was before he shaved his head. I like it better before the head is shaved. lol)

Oh yeah...I went to Labadee, Jamaica, Grand Cayman Island & Cancun, Mexico. It was on a East Carribean cruise. It was the largest cruise ship in the world then.(For anyone that might know the ships, it was the Freedom of the Seas.) We went last yr for our 25th anniversary...I'm not sure how to send some pictures, so here's a site my DH made so we could send them to others http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/jkonesni
Look at those plants on Jamaica. In the Mexico pictures you can see the agave plant, used to make tequila.

MelodyL 05-17-2008 07:54 PM

I've never been on a cruise. When I was 22, some friends sailed on one, and they had a Bon Voyage Party. My first Bon Voyage party.

The girls were giggling (as young girls do, when we are in our early 20's), at all the stewards, and the crew.

I never saw so many good looking guys in my life.

One crew member passed us. He was about 6 feet 4, blond and had a beard and a mustache. He looked like Eric the Viking. So I decided to call him Eric. I said 'Eric??" and he looked at me like I had lost my mind. I never felt so stupid in all my life.

Ah, the memories!!!!
