I have to agree with Kathy as my son was in Iraq for 7 months last years and can be sent back at any time as he joined the Marine Reserves even though not one member of our family believes in this awful war including my son. He just wanted to serve his country like his father did and you can bet I was hurting in more ways then my back last year. I look at it this way...my dh and son fought for the right to be able to speak your mind and not be punished for it and I can't believe I am even posting this but it just hit too close to home for me and sorry if I offended anyone!

I have so much respect for you and Kathy and all the other mums, and for your sons and daughters the soldiers. Brother and sisters, fathers... I have great admiration and respect for them.

What I question is the leaders.

I don't know if you watched the video on Press for Truth... but it raises some questions... that aren't being answered.

Years and years ago, in the sixties, someone came to visit me here in Santa Fe who liked to smoke marijuanna. I didn't have any, but I was pretty sure this fellow I knew would. So we went over to his house... and the fellow behaved so strangely, like "What are you talking about?" I remembered thinking that I was surprised, completely surprised at him saying he had no idea, sort of thing.

Well, a year or so later he was killed in a car accident and it was revealed that he was a heroine addict. (he came from a really good family.) So then I knew that yes, he knew exactly what I was talking about... only he was pretending this great innocence and ignorance.

That's what comes to mind for me when this whole thing comes up and the government has no idea, could not imagine...

When I first saw your post I was afraid I'd hurt your feelings by posting. I didn't want to hurt anyones feelings. I just thought the video was thought provoking.

Over the days leading to the anniversary of lthe horrendous sight we all saw on television I have watched many documentaries including 'The Falling Man'.

But the one face that stands out for me is the face of George Bush as he sat with the kids and was told the planes had crashed into the buildings in New York.

No look of surprise there. No look of concern save to bite or just purse his lips and then continue on with what he had been doing.

People were choking on smoke by then and beginning to know they had to chose between burning to death and jumping and still he sat.

I will never forget that face of indifference he showed and the lack of action he took.

I have never seen it before in my long lifetime and never want to see it again.

I can no longer look at the world the same. So I am never surprised anymore in mans inhumanity to man.

You go on as you are Clouds and more power to the men like you who have the courage to think whether they are proven right or wrong it doesn't matter if the answer is just and right.

And by the way there is a documentary by the CBC that proves to me indeed they did have warnings over and over and chose to sit on it.

At least the man was being true to his nature. at the school wherehe heard the news first. He once again sat on it.

Good post, Thelma.

You made me think about how I should put the link here, to that video. Rather than just the link to the pbs thread where it was posted.
