Default School's out for the summer

Yay! School is over for the year and my kids are happy. As most of you know Johnny graduated high school and come fall my baby Michael will be a freshman.

You know what??? I don't even know why I'm writing this LOL. I think it is out of pure boredom. I had so much fun last night with a bunch of us goofing off on the boards and tonight I'm sitting here at 7:30 pm bored out of my skull.

My house is quiet
The boards are quiet
and I'm bored.

Anyone have anything exciting to talk about????

Default Beth,

I am always thankful for the summer....just as ready as the kids. I work in an elem school. MOST of the kids are ALWAYS glad for summer. There has been talk of year around school. I hope, hope, hope, that never happens. I always enjoy getting to spend more time with my own kids for awhile in the summer!!!

Sorry you are bored!!!!! I was just cleaning out a closet....that was not very exciting!!!!! I did read a book from the library this week. Something I hadn't done for a while. It's kinda nice to just melt away into someone else's world for a while!!!!

I love to escape into a good book. I read them quite often.

Now that I no longer work I love having the kids home for the summer. We have the house that all the kids tend to gather at. We have 9 acres so we have dirtbikes, A swimming pond stocked with fish and we have bon fires every weekend,

I would rather have kids at my house than mine going somewhere else. I tend to worry and this way I know what they are doing around here.

We used to have school year round but because of budget cuts they discontinued it about 8 years ago.

Take care.

Beth,
You have a good thing going with having all the kids gather at your house. I was always VERY selective of who my kids went home with. That's great that the kids love to come over to your place.

I'm curious, how did you like going year round? Maybe if you are used to it, it's okay. Longer breaks periodically throughout????

7 more school days for my daughter. Then I'll loose all my me time and get lots of time to spend with my favorite person in the whole wide world!!!

School all year round sounds kind of interesting. As long as I'm not the one going. How did the kids like it?

I didn't really care for it. We only did it for 1 year before they discontinued it. The kids would get long weekends or a 2 week break now and then. Things like that.

I thought it was too much for the kids but that was just my opinion. My dh thought it was good for them.

Yipee! Let the fun begin at Beth's house. It is nice having the kids home during the summer.

Although DD16 is in summer school right now. She'll end at the end of this month. She had a 4 day weekend (Memorial Day weekend) between the end of school and the beginning of summer school. She is excited that it will end soon. Funny, going to summer school was her choice and now she can't wait for it to be over? LOL

I'm always amazed at parents who dread summer holidays - I think it would be a blast. A great chance to spend some fun time with your kids without really having to worry about responsibilities and bedtimes!

Sounds like you are ready for a fun summer!

Yep!! I love it when my boys are home. Or when my eldest boy comes to visit and we are all together. I have a blast with them.

We all goof off, go swimmin in the pond, have bonfires etc.

It's also funny how they will bring up things such as when they would get in trouble and how I would handle it. And the mistakes they feel I made as I was raising them

Yep I love it when my kids are here.

I always loved spending time with my boys when they were younger. I still do....it's just that they are 21 and 25 now. And both are here at home with me!! But I love it. We all get along - they have grown up to be very kind and loving young men. I'm blessed.

When they were young we'd play badminton in the backyard until we were exhausted and sweaty then jump in the pool and cool off. Then we'd eat watermelon on newspapers spread out on the porch. Those were the days. I miss them.
