I was the "brain"... the one that others came to for help.
I was very busy in high school, in alot of clubs. I was also doing all the art decorations for dances. In gym I was always the captain of the teams. I was very athletic in my youth. That has gone out the window for me now... sadly. Volleyball, softball, tennis and basketball were fun for me...and I was very good at them. I didn't play in college except for tennis. I was way too busy, and working as well to pay for it. Back in the mid 60's I don't recall drugs (excluding alcohol), in high school. Drugs were not common in my group then. I almost forgot smoking cigarettes... I don't smoke...but this activity was the major problem in school. Beehive hair was measured. Boys had to wear a belt on their pants. None of the girls wore slacks. We had greasers and frats. I was in the frat category. Because I was a brain and wore glasses, I was not much for dating material. I guess I scared the guys off. I didn't really care. I was pretty busy all the time. I did date alot in college...that was a nice clean slate and the guys were more mature. I met my husband when I was a sophomore in college. (our frat group in HS. was not large, and greaser types did not appeal to me). In college it was mega choices... 40,000 students....big difference! LOL There were much more drugs in college..way more. And protests etc. My professional classes mostly were drug free but there were some potheads that were discrete. I entered college in 1964, and graduated in 1969. In between those times, things radically changed, socially at schools. I was just in a period that had little action, I guess.

I was quiet, skinny, just a regular/normal non label type - knew some of the socials , some of the nerds & some of the wild ones - but didn't really 'hang" with any of those.

Editor of the school yearbook.
Wrote for the school newspaper. In many, many clubs. Officer in National Honor Socity. A little on the brainy side and a little on the popular side. Had a lot of fun!!!! |

Same as I am now - a wall flower and kind of boring. Most of my friends didn't go to my school and the friends I had at school were in all different circles. My parents never encouraged me to participate in sports, activities or clubs so I just floated through high school.

Shy, quiet.
Geek. Smart. Academic. Nobody knew me. Lonely. In elementary school, junior high, was the last one to get picked for teams in P.E. They fought over who had to take me. (I can't believe that some P.E. teachers still use that method to choose teams, and try to justify it!) ~ Faith

I was a fat, lonely girl who stuttered. The nuns even made fun of me. No one wants to be friends with a fat kid who stutters.
Guess I showed them all. I can speak 5 languages and I don't stutter anymore. Those nuns were brutal in Catholic School. Yuck!!
