Last night there was a special about unclaimed funds; how people have money and/or property that they didn't know about. After my mother passed away I actually looked into this but didn't find anything. I also put in my name as well as other family members and friends. NOTHING. After last night's special I went to the site again on a whim and was shocked to see MY NAME!!!! Apparently it had not been reported until 2004 (a few years after my initial search.) I called this morning with a question and was surprised to hear that I was able to expedite the retrieval by phone. It's only about $140.00 but I'll gladly take it! Cool, I checked, I have MONEY...not much, $50 - 100 is all I know so far, it is from an old health insurance policy.

I watched Dateline also but never checked, thanks for posting this.

Earl, that's what mine was too! Actually, mine looks like it's a LIFE insurance policy premium which is confusing since I've only ever had one through a job. Best as I can figure, it must have been a payroll deduction from the last job I had that was pre-paid. I'll never know for sure but hey, that's okay!

For anyone who has money, hang on the phone for an operator. I had printed the form and was going to have it notarized when they informed me that I might qualify for the expedited refund -- and I did!

I don't work, have time, plugged in some names and my dead dad's appeared!!
Doubt it's much but it was his, a comforting thought to those left behind (me and siblings), MY DAD'S NAME!!!!!
