Which did you try ?
Do you think it helped you? If so, what did it help with or how did you feel better after using it?

I have heard of chi machines but thought it was a joke until I looked it up...
interesting...I guess chi is really like da force. It's all around us, and now it's in machines... ![]() well, I'd be really interested in somebody that has tried this cause I try to meditate and practice chi on my own...usually just feel gas...LOL but seriously, if anyone has tried it, please post it. It's piqued my interest. Thanks jo for the question

Hey, Jo, I looked into those footbaths and it's a gimic, so save your spa bucks for the good stuff and make sure you are eating right.
I will admit, part of my research was done for a company that produces home-use spa equipment. ![]()

AMN,
Did you do any testing, for the foot bath thing? -I got to try a detox foot bath for free, so I've been reading more about them. the site for the one they had says "lots of the color change "could" be from the water minerals, the ion charger and the salts.." I guess you would have to run one with the water only to see what changes really happen... then compare that to with feet... another site says that any color changes mean nothing really - but the bath is still making a benefit to your health.. neg/pos ions for cell health.... But if that's the case how would you test that, objectively ![]() I wouldn't pay for a spa session/appts ![]() I think I am more interested in the Chi machine anyway. I know someone on the forum was trying one and wondered how it was going?

Jo, the foot detox thing was a news story here in town a while back. They did all sorts of tests and it was proven to be a hoax. I think the links should be in the PN area of the board...Sue

You're right, there is no Litmus test, they've even shown that different water sources can have an impact. In addition, if you use any moisturizing product on your feet, polishes, including pedicure products like acetone, that can all influence the minerals to change color.
The best detoxification advice I have encountered is plenty of drinking water or clear liquids, massage followed by a lot of liquids, and allowing yourself to perspire naturally by using only a deodorant as opposed to an antiperspirant. P.S. You'll have to give up that nasty heroine habit, too. ![]()

here was a local story with a video. Dr. John Sibert, an associate professor of Chemistry at the University of Texas at Dallas, says the color change can be explained by simple science. "Electrolysis, which is used in the marketing of that product, is a very basic chemical process that involves electrical energy being used to do some chemical change," Dr. Sibert said. He says the orange color in the water is a result of iron in its oxidized form. That's rust.

I think reflexology itself really works. My uncle in Brazil practices that as well as pressure point massages. He's helped many there in pain.
Perhaps this footbath includes some sort of massage motion thus making one feel better with the massage itself. And having water soaking the foot is always a pleasure. Just ask da wife, I am her waterboy and I have to walk 5 miles each day to the natural spring to fetch her two buckets of fresh spring water for her feet. ![]() But seriously, foot massagers probably helps relieve pressure. Then add in the water making the weight "lighter" (weight floating in water although there isn't enough water to really lift the weight) thus it is more of a sensation of feeling better than actual benefits. I think especially for those with edema of the feet, which my dad had serious edema, having feet soaked in water for a little bit does help alleviate the pressure a bit? so maybe when the feet says to the mind, I feel good, the mind can feel better... ![]() as for the Chi, it is something that my culture has practiced for eons. I am just wondering how they are able to put that into a machine. Once again, it might be just a "feeling" of how the machine makes one feel vs. practical, true health benefits, but then again, the mind can play tricks and in the end, if the proponents love it cause it "makes" them feel better and they want to spend money on it... why not?? LOL the other question that I have which is more esoteric, really, is that no one has been able to truly define what chi is. It's not "heat" like they do with the paw prints...and it isn't electric....well, not to moi anyways...it is not gas....it is something...different...(but some do believe it to be some sorta electro-magnetic force...which I am open to...) for moi, chi is a nexus with the surroundings....to being part of the universe....a connection...so, in relative terms, it is everywhere, even in the man-made machine?? Yet, I am not sure that machine will channel through. LOL I think I'd be too cheap to buy one anyways and rather practice chi on my own...but would be interested in how others feel about the chi machine. Always a humbling learning experience. Yay, Nay, inbetween... ![]()

Well I'll tell you about my "session"
![]() I had no lotion or anything on my feet. water was fresh tap water {city} machines were new - not much rust yet I'd guess ![]() put feet in water - machine turned on - 10 min slight yellowing in water they added some salt at times - brings up the conductivity - 2.0 is the optimum number for that. I watched and nothing odd appeared in the water at those times when the salt was added. 20 mins more of an orangeish tint after the 40 mins- "results" medium orange water with some floating particles. some possible mucus - I do have a slight allergy/sinus stuffiness 3 tiny dark linear particles - the list says possibly metal one clearish linear thing - list says possible parasite - I know yuck- but the lady said she had long thready things when she did hers -eeewww! ![]() they do use a disposable liner just so you know that part. anyway it was interesting to give it a try and I am glad it didn't turn totally yucky black ![]()
