glad you are safe, shell shell...
it would be kinda weird if the search and rescue party go look for you and all they can find is your princess crown... of course, that just meant you ran away with the cute archy boy... ![]() ![]() |

I think, I'd listen to a bit of both. As long as someone knows that it is loadbearing and can withstand a lot of weight, and it's safe to get to a doorway, I would. If that's just not a reasonable or safe thing to do, I'd opt for a different, but super sturdy object.
Interior/support walls are also supposed to be good to brace against. In addition to windows, another must-stay-away-from is a fireplace. I didn't know about that and heard it today. I suspect my laundry room is probably the safest here; it has no windows, is smaller than other rooms and has support structure; the space above (upstairs) hasn't collapsed so something must be supporting that space.

Shelley,
This is a "just wondering" type question: In your area are people advised to use braces and mount heavy objects direct to walls? I've thought about it, only... what happens when it comes to moving (if renting or if selling)? Rip chunks of the walls away to remove furniture (e.g., Grandma's curios or china hutch) and mirrors or sell the objects with the house?
