Default Your elderly spokesperson

Over the years we've all seen different commercials specifically targeting the elderly. Each of them features some familiar face, past its prime, dripping with trustworthy advice to buy this insurance, invest with us, buy this funeral planning advice, or more recently, give away your home equity with this nifty reverse mortgage.

Ed McMahon, George Burns, Wilford Brimley, Sam Waterston, Bob Barker, Robert Conrad and many other over-the-hillers have been our daytime advisors on all things old.

I'm 45 and wondering who my future hero and adviser will be. Johnny Depp is about my age, so is George Clooney. Will I one day sit and admire their scripted wisdom and feel the urge to make that call... now... before it's too late?

Who among your famous contemporaries do you imagine as your future, trustworthy spokesperson?

I can see Matt Damon, Hillary Duff or Shania Twain as being trustworthy representatives since they have had a difficult upbringing economically and have excelled.

I perceive Tom Hanks to be as trustworthy as they come.

Harrison Ford was the voice on a diaper commercial about 20 years ago.

Outside of the music biz, I wonder what Simon Cowell could convince people to buy? Can't you just visualize him selling used cars or something?

"Your car is the sorriest piece of junk I've ever seen. It's embarrassing. I don't know how you dare drive it without at least wearing a paper bag to hide your face."

"I'm not being rude, but the only thing that would improve your car is to set it on fire and roll it off a cliff."

"There's nothing here at Cowell's Classy Cars you can afford. Go away and come back when you've won the lottery."

You've come up with some I thought of. I'll add Brad Pitt.

Keith Richards is older but I think he would be hysterical as my "trusted advisor". With all of the "preservatives" in his body I imagine he will still be around then .

LOL!! I can just see him and Mick Jagger trying to sell life insurance!!

How about David Hasslehoff? Not sure I'd trust him with much or be inclined to take advice from him.

The one person I think I might have a little faith in is Reba McIntyre. I've always liked her and she's done work with Habitat for Humanity.
