My daughter just got back from volunteering as a counselor at a camp (free) for inner city kids.
Every year a "store" is provided for the kids who often come off the bus with nothing but the clothes on their backs. They are given a sleeping bag to take home and a black trash bag where they can "shop" and get whatever they need. Leftover items are donated to Salvation Army when the Summer sessions are over. And every year, the teen counselors also find something to take home. DD has been a counselor for 3 years, she was cold so she took a jacket. This is a common practice. It is camp, a joy for everyone. So she now has an amazing jacket but I swear, there is more to it. It seems as if it was a military jacket... It is black leather and cloth (wool) with The United States of America stitched upon it and an eagle head. Marine? My imagination? this feels like I have stolen from Twink's thread. |
