I saw that too, I imagine being slammed into terra firma twice had to account for some of the trouble not to mention the brick wall, those tend to hurt, i still can not fathom WHY you would even try this, and I am a moron, I surfed once when hurricane was coming in but to put yourself into the strong winds

I still had a number of hours before it hit land near daytona, but still looking back probably not one of my smarter moments, the waves were cool

Probably thought to himself..."Wind...good. Surf...good."

It was amazing seeing how powerful nature can be, and how little and powerless we are in it's grip.

Hope the guy recovers...never want to see something like that again. Hope people learn from his example.

I hope so too, but the sad reality is that there are probably 200 of his peers all testifying to how they could have done it better and controlled the situation and how they will definitely prove it to all the other morons at their first opportunity.
