Some images of her -
http://images.google.com/images?q=Sa...=1&sa=N&tab=wi

sounds like she is a firecracker - highest ranked {well liked} Gov of the states, nicknamed sarah barracuda in high school sports...

Alaska state website must be down due to high volume hits??
I can't get on to it to read more about her there.

Definitely will be an interesting election year.

Exclamation

ok

for those who did not see my post earlier today here it is

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread53203.html

I am sorry but we have no choice but for zero tolerance on anything negative here and so edits have already been made to posts as well as posts quoting posts that have been edited

remember, we are the ones who get the reported posts and hear the complaints and we are simply NOT going to have these forums become political battlegrounds. If you dont have something positive and supportive to say without being negative about the other "side" please dont post.

I know it is likely going to upset some of you, but I would rather have you upset at me than start getting upset at each other.

Her political past -

Former part time Mayor of Wasilla, AK.

2 years as Gov of AK.

Her interests - Oil and Gas.

I agree with DM.

She's a firecracker alright, with little to no experience and some interesting baggage. She's made some poor judgment calls in the past that have already been pointed out by the press and her constituents.

She is a good speaker, that has always been said about her.

It is going to be an interesting next few months.

I find it interesting that there was stated in a post something to the effect that with a Down's Syndrome baby, she won't have the time to be VP...

first of all, she has a DH, yes? And second of all, I'm sure that as head of state in Alaska, she has someone who takes care of the baby/kids already.

My DH has already heard women at work saying..."Great! A woman on the ticket! I'm voting McCain!"

Hope that everyone votes on the platform of the candidates, and not because of age/gender/cancer/race/etc,etc...
it's too important this time...we need to vote with our brains, not our biases...no matter what they might be. Just vote, okay?

The importance of knowing the issues and where each candidate and their respective running mate stands is of utmost importance.

I know this news has swayed my decision - based on the judgement of certain politicians and who I could see as president of the 4 choices selected.

It hasn't swayed my decision but it has affected me because it's made me more resolute in my choice.

My personal opinion is that it's a terrible choice. It does nothing, IMO, for McCain.

And I'm annoyed, as a woman, that McCain seems to be saying, "Ok, we have the possibility of an historic presidency happening here and I'm going to not be left out of that possibility with MY campaign either."

He picked someone from a state that is so far away from being "mainstream." It's rather disturbing.

Do I really want someone with that little experience in government as a backup for a man whose male line has died young? Age is an issue here regardless of his health. Seemingly healthy men his age die every day very suddenly.

And I agree about the child, DM. I'd say the same if it were a man, so it's not a sexist view of things. Little kids are demanding and need their parents. Being a VP is a 24/7 job 365 days a year with no "off" time. You're always on the clock. So how do you do that and be a good parent to a very little kid too? I don't get it.

Guess time will tell.

BTW, I am not a diehard party-line person. I cross lines regularly to vote and I've voted every election except for one since I was eligible.

And that's the last of my political opinions on the election.

I am the exactly the same, Gazelle. I was taught as a young child how important it is to vote. I consciously refrain from talking politics with people who are eligible to vote but don't -- I have no problem with people who have different views than I do but that I find hypocritical. I am registered with one party primarily so I can vote in primaries and although I tend to lean one way, like you, it's not a given that I will vote along party lines.

The Palin choice will not entice Clinton supporters if they were endorsing her for anything other than her gender. The two women could not be further apart. I believe she will, however, appeal to the members of the very conservative constituency who feel that McCain is too liberal.

I think it's a puzzling choice, albeit an interesting one. I'm very curious to see how McCain and Palin will reconcile their own opposing views when brought to the public.
