hey Jo,

perhaps this could also be made into a sticky on both social chat and the Feedback.

And then we can direct the political threads over there?

I hope nobody will get angry at me for saying this....I really care about a lot of the folks here and have become friends with a lot of you guys...
and I avoid the political stuff....

In private, I have discussed how uncomfortable to even joke around here in the past few weeks simply because I just feel like the "ambience" has changed a bit...

don't get me wrong, I am passionate about my political views and such....and I am totally for freedom of speech. I just think that there are forums to discuss those stuff in...

religion and politics are very personal issues and I can see and understand views from all sides...but when it gets heated, there IS a group of us that feel very uncomfortable....and for this being a place to kind of relax and take our minds away from the everyday pains and stress in life, it was becoming a bit of an intimidating factor for me to even joke and being non sequitur in threads that are harmless and fun...

I hope I hadn't offended anyone with this, I've been wanting to say this for a long time....but didn't wanted to hurt anyone cause I do care so much about a lot of you wonderful people...

and I think it is GREAT that we all are passionate about our country...it's just that we all have different ideas on how it should be taken cared of...we all are on the SAME side whenever I read the posts...we are all wanting the same things...just can't agree on who should run it....

OK, that's about as political I'll get and want to get and I am nobody...LOL just wanted to throw out my two cents....

I hope you will still be my friend....

This is a great idea. I have such strong feelings about this election that I can't think of anything but the political stuff. Lucky thing my health is good right now or my blood pressure couldn't handle it!

Good Idea Moi,
I'll move it up there in a few days.
Sometimes the stickys get overlooked so I'll keep in the main part for awhile.

I think the groups would be a great option for those wanting to discuss things that are a bit more sensitive or even triggering for some of the other members.

I'll just mention too, that if any post is upsetting - please click the report icon. On most themes/skins it is located in the lower left corner of each post.

yup I just want to add my agreement on this

way too many members are getting triggered by all the political posts and what seems ok to some is upsetting to others.....

although Doc is being lenient in terms of politics until the elections are over, it would really be sad to see members falling out with one another over this.
We already have some not even wanting to post cos of it ):

the Social Groups are a GREAT way to do this and especially as one doesnt have to go near them if your dont want to talk politics...whereas here, even with the P icon.....it is harder not to peek....

We need to remember that nearly all members here are carrying heavy burdens of health etc and coming to Social forum should be a place to unwind and relax.....not end up upset and carrying even heavier loads

I like the idea of putting all the political talk into social groups. That way we have a place to discuss without taking all the fun out of the social chat.

Not sure if I will participate but it is nice to know it is there.

Wasn't sure how to vote in the poll as I don't want to censor but also don't want it to go on...yes I am wishy washy...Sue
