Default Question about Social Security??

Well, I haven't seen this even discussed on all the news shows, on CNN, ANYWHERE??

What about the seniors, and the disabled?

Will we still be getting direct deposits to our bank accounts?

I don't mean to sound paranoid but there are MANY OF US IN THE SAME BOAT. We, who don't own homes, who don't fit into the category that the financial discussions pertain to.

With all this talk about the bail out (or the no-bail out), do any of you have a hint of what is coming down the line?

Can they make an announcement to the effect "there is no more social security, there is no more SSI??"

Can this happen in the foreseeable future??

Quite scary.

Thanks for anyone's opinion on this topic.
Melody

No Melody, I don't think that any politician worth his or her salt will ever try to mess with Social Security. Even in these tough times.

But I gotta say that I'm glad that Social Security never got privatized like "they" wanted to do in the recent past. Then we WOULD be in a pickle. Privatizing would have turned the whole thing over to the investment bankers on Wall St. And we now see where that would have ended up.

I hope that discussion never comes up again!

Well, I'll breathe a bit easier this morning. My friends took a big beating on Wall Street. Their banks went out of business and they lost ALL their stock in that bank.

Makes one wonder if investing in the Stock Market (in the long run), was such a good thing.

Again, thanks so much.

I'm keeping a watch on what's going on.

Take care,

Melody
