Good Morning everyone! Three days till Thanksgiving! I put my turkey in the fridge out in the garage to thaw out. I have all the ingredients for everything I'll make so I'm all set!! I think I'm going to make some treats today....I want to try out Sarah's recipe that she posted (http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/post412878-551.html). I used to make something similar and it was called "Tree Bark". Made almost the same way except it had chopped nuts sprinkled in with the chocolate chips. Anyway, I'm gonna make that today.

Debbie, it sounds like your MIL is struggling with some mild dementia. My Mom started out like that....sort of a mix of being able to do things and not quite being able to do things. It would come and go. You're so sweet to be so patient with her and give her things to do. We used to keep a clothes basket of small towels and wash cloths ready and waiting. If she became too anxious or we felt she was feeling left out we'd give her that basket and ask her to help by folding the laundry. Worked every time.....except the day she said "you know I've been folding the same set of towels for months now. When are you gonna put them away?" :eek: :D We had to laugh!!

It's cloudy and supposed to rain here today and they're saying that in extreme North GA there might even be some snow flurries!!! Yay!! It won't amount to anything but it's pretty to watch.

Please keep my sister in your prayers.....she still hasn't found a job and she just bought a car and a condo! :eek: She's been in her condo about a year now. She's very worried as she has almost been through her savings and will have to rely on Unemployment till it runs out or she finds something.

I should have logged in overnight as I was up when Frank and Fin were up, too! I've sort of gotten into the habit of going to bed at a decent hour but waking up (and getting up) between 12-1 AM and staying up for about an hour then going back to bed. As you can see....I don't sleep more than three hours at a time. :rolleyes:

Hey, has anyone heard from Tara (Blues Girl) or Becky lately? They haven't posted much.

I hope everyone has a good day....stay warm if it's cold where you are.....:hug:'s and :smileypray:'s for those who need them!

NaeNae 11-24-2008 06:48 AM

I'm up getting dressed and ready for work! Ok well I'm sitting here in a towel when I SHOULD be getting dressed and ready for work LOL! Letting my scrubs get nice and warm in the dryer! Have a happy Monday everyone!!

Kitty 11-24-2008 07:30 AM

mornin' preeeevert!

we're twinsies today...

I found a bucketload of scrubs at the big-town thrift store (we get a lot of medical missionaries and interns here)

so, I have purple, pink, aqua, teal, and blue scrubs, lol, full sets.

they're the PERFECT jungle attire, good coverage, easy to wash, quick line dry, cheap, and comfortable.

hooray for scrubs!

:hug:

have a good day at work, Twinsie!

CayoKay 11-24-2008 08:14 AM

mornin' Cuz-Kell...

my sister's in a similar tight spot, we can pray for both.

she bought a house, and then got sick (CFS, MCS, and bipolar disorder) plus a neck injury... so she can't work.

alas, the house turned out to have a NASTY non-disclosure... seems the grandson of the owners had a leetle METH lab in the shed out back, and the ground in contaminated.

she's frantically attempting to get the sale rescinded, and get her money back... the owners claim they didn't know.

the neighbors say they KNEW, and the grandson was hauled off to jail for his crimes.

so, it's a gnarly "he-said, she-said" and she has no money for a lawyer, trying to find one to take the case "pro bono" and sorta freaking the heck WAY out over it all...

Kelly, I'll be praying for your sister (does that make her my honorary cousin?) and keeping her in my thoughts...

:grouphug::hug::grouphug:

FinLady 11-24-2008 08:41 AM

Kelli and Kay, :hug: and prayers for both your sisters going out.

Renee, my SIL began her clinicals for radiology and she LOVES the scrubs. She swears it's the most comfortable piece of clothing ever made. Have a good day at work.:hug:

Frank, finally zonked out around 3, so got about 5 hours.

Debbie D, sorry to hear about your MIL. :hug: Glad the 'roids are helping.

Sarah, Happy Anniversary!!! :trampoline:

~~~~~~~~
Morning all. Very rainy this morn as I'm sipping my morning cup of coffee.
Last day of waiting to see if this med kicks in or I'm going to be on the phone with the doc's office first thing tomorrow morn. Hubby and I are a little concerned. :( So to answer Frank's question, it was a combo of a little pain and a little worry last night that kept me up. :deadhorsebeat:
So gonna do what I can today with the puttering around needed, and try not to push too hard. Really thankful we're having thanksgiving at the in-law's, so that's one less worry for me.
Hope everyone has a good day. :grouphug::grouphug:
Sarah - Happy Anniversary! I hope you and dh have a wonderful day today.
Kay and Kelly - Saying prayers for your sisters.
Renee - Have a good day at work.
Fin - Hoping the pain eases for you and/or the dr can find something that will help you.
DebbieD - Glad you are getting some relief with the steroids.
Barb - Hope you had a safe and fun trip this weekend.
Hi to everyone else I missed. I hope everyone has a good day today.
This morning I am going to see my sister and one of my east coast nieces who stayed at my parents last night. I excited to see them.
I survived my other nieces 3rd birthday party. It was a princess party and DM if you are reading this you have some serious, I mean serious competition. LOL. Tiara's, magic wands, dresses, little jeweled shoes, pink purses, etc. and a group of little girls giggling and running around.:eek::p So much pink! DDs had a great time as well. They took pictures of each other jumping on the trampoline. I'll post some in my album in a little bit.
I think I am going to have to make that dreaded call to the neuro this morning.:( Aside from the regular spasms, my bladder started spasming and my left eye is seeing right. The sharp nerve pain started last night in my left eye.:mad: Dang it all! Wish me luck!
FinLady 11-24-2008 09:22 AM
Trish, :hug: Hoping the neuro can help ya out.
JustWeave 11-24-2008 09:24 AM
Mornin' all. I think congrats, hugs and prayers will cover everyone.
Tossed a 15 pound buzzard in the fridge yesterday to thaw for a Thursday meeting with my roaster. :Starvin: Got the rest of the fixin's over the weekend. Not looking forward to having DH under foot four whole days in a row.
Will get my gift shopping wrapped up before feast day. :yahoo: I have three gifts to make after that. Two of them are started but not by much.
DH's current doctor is trying to charge him $65 to transfer his records to a new doc. :icon_eek: We never heard of such a thing! :mad:
Lots to do better get moving!
weegot5kiz 11-24-2008 09:27 AM
now as sandy and deb will be the first to say here is the pot calling the kettle black, might want to call an urologist too, keep fluids flowing through you in case its a uro issue, I hope your eye eases up, especially if its ON:hug: hope you feel better
SandyC 11-24-2008 11:27 AM
Morning! I am sorry some of you are feeling blah. Trish, Frank is right, it could be a neurogenic bladder and your doing too much. :hug:
Happy anniversary Sarah and hubby!
Weave, your too far ahead of me. I still have a bunch to buy! Argh. lol
Kelly and Kay, same here, prayers going up for your sisters. :hug:
Debbie, steroids are the bomb diggity bomb! LOL Jim may ask for prednisone when we go in on the 2nd. Just for those days of blech.
Renee, I loved my scrubs and even kept some after I left the medical field. They are awesome for cleaning and painting.
Jenn, hope you feel better soon. :hug:
Barb, be safe and don't buy so much you can't fit yourself in the car! lol Remember that commercial where the lady piled all the stuff around her poor husband? lol
We have an appointment today with a contractor and mobility place. I wont say what for just yet until I know if we're able to do it but say a small prayer because it is for Jim. Frank knows because he was here after the evaluator came by. lol
I am going to throw in a load of laundry so I have some clean jeans for Tday. I told my mom last night that if the pilgrims had ate donkey instead of turkey we'd be eating **** for Tday. lmao I think that came from you Frank! She didn't laugh though which made it even funnier. lol
Have a good day and wish us luck that the mobility place and the contractor can do what we want. :hug:
weegot5kiz 11-24-2008 11:33 AM
Jim and you have Debs and my prayers hopes and positive vibrations
FinLady 11-24-2008 11:35 AM
Sandy, hope the contractor can do what you would like to see happen. :hug:
I already have familial ties to Georgia...
my brother lived in Georgia for quite a few years, and was a founder of the Georgia Gulf War Vets.
his wife is a sweet lil Georgia Peach from Decatur, and sounds JUST like you on the phone.
News flash!
I just got a call to set up a job interview! :eek: I am so excited and terrified at the same time.
I haven't worked in many, many years. This is the only place I have applied at so far and just filling out the application was a challenge. I did not anticipate some of the questions and had to get info from home to finish it. How embarrassing! :o
I really, really want this job but fear the application experience already has me at a huge disadvantage. Some of the job entails things I have done before but lack of computer skills also puts me at a disadvantage.
The interview is Wednesday morning so I have time for prayer, good vibes, and ace the interview dances. Lots of luck wouldn't hurt either I'm sure.
You've got alot of change going on in your life right now....please take some time to take care of yourself, too. K? :hug:
I hope things work out the way you want them to. Just know that they will always work out the way they are meant to....:)
I should "shut up"!
Everyone have a super MOnday!!!!!:hug:
Debbie D 11-24-2008 01:40 PM
Weave,
Some interview advice...whenever I interviewed, I acted as if I could take or leave the job...no pressure to "perform". I told myself if it was meant to be, then I'd get the job.
Don't fret...we all have been in the boat of returning to work after a time off...sit up tall, walk with confidence, make eye contact, don't be afraid to smile. And good luck!
Trish...hope you get some neuro help:hug:
Sarah, glad the pred's helping...
Kay, Kell prayers for the sisses...
I am feeling bloated...like my cells are going to explode:(...not feeling very great...a bit of a headache. I remember getting one when I was on oral pred last Dec. Crummy to feel this way over the holiday...:(
JustWeave 11-24-2008 01:57 PM
Thanks for the best wishes everyone. :)
HereKitty- I'd be a part time library assistant at a local library. I've done library work before although that was a lifetime ago. What scares me some is my lack of computer skills. Finding a job I enjoy is part of me taking care of me. Once I get a job I'll finally have some spending money of my own again. Not much I know (8-11 hours a week) but some is better than the current situation. I'll put some toward household bills but the lion, er, lioness's :D share will be mine. I have some large, long term goals for some of that money too. For 20 years I've been wondering if... I hope to find the answer next year.
SandyC 11-24-2008 02:07 PM
Good luck Weave!!! I am sure you'll do just fine. :hug:
FinLady 11-24-2008 04:41 PM
Weave, Adding my good luck vibes for the job interview.
tkrik 11-24-2008 06:42 PM
Weave - Good luck with the job interview. I hope all goes well. You will do just fine.:hug:
barb02 11-24-2008 07:18 PM
Hi everyone!
Just got back from the trip up north, and yep you guessed it, I am exhausted, and my legs are a mess.:o And what was with the snow this morning?:eek: We shopped and ate alot, and I am still not done shopping:rolleyes:. I have a big family. The rest of my shopping is going to be done on line or at out local mall which has about 15 stores. The mall was packed and finding a parking space was next to impossible even with a disability placard. And people were definitely buying things. I could not stand the crowds and noise and probably only made it into about 10 different stores in the mall.
I have finally acknowledged to myself (one the way home) that I can't do big malls. I prefer individual stores where I can use a shopping cart.
I will check out the posts from the past few days tomorrow. Now I am off to veg in front of the tv for a little while and then I am going to bed.
Kitty 11-24-2008 07:35 PM
I'm glad you had fun, Barb. I miss going to the mall and just walking around and window shopping. I can't take the noise, all the walking or the really high ceilings and florescent lights. All that combined makes me terribly dizzy.
barb02 11-24-2008 08:21 PM
Weave,
Good luck with your interview!
tkrik 11-24-2008 09:48 PM
Barb - Glad you had a good time and made it back home safe and sound. Now you have the rest of the week to relax and take it easy. :hug:
FinLady 11-24-2008 10:00 PM
Not too much to update. Made lunch, took a nap, went to my art guild's meeting. That's about it in a nutshell. (yep, I'm the nut too. :D )
Hoping I get some rest tonight and not have another episode of not sleeping.
~~~~~~

Barb, glad you had fun. Totally understand the sensory overload when it comes to big malls. :hug: Enjoy your week off. :)

ewizabeth 11-24-2008 10:13 PM

Hi Everybody! :)

I've been trying to keep up with you all but things are getting hectic with the holidays. I hope everybody is doing reasonably well as Thanksgiving gets closer.

I'm making two pies and a cheesecake for the dinner we're going to. Our sons will ride with us since it's out of town.

I started taking cranberry capsules again, and hopefully I'll ward off another UTI. I see the neuro on Wednesday when I get my infusion. He should go over my MRI results then too. I'm taking the Provigil every day now since the days I don't take it I'm just dead meat. :rolleyes:

I gave DH a haircut tonight so he'll be presentable for the dinner. I've been complaining to him about his not doing housework and me doing it on my days off. I think I'm making some progress, we'll see anyway. :cool: I told him I was thinking about hiring a housekeeper and that got his attention. I have an idea to work out a system to keep the house clean and get his help too. If it didn't totally wipe me out for the day to clean two rooms it wouldn't be a big deal. I work four days a week. One day off is just for vegging (so I can keep working.) One day is for housework and the other is for miscellaneous stuff, laundry, exercise, etc... I don't have any time for hobbies like he does. Though I do spend a lot of time online at night. <sigh> He does cook dinner five nights a week and runs the dishwasher every night. He buys most of the groceries too, but that's it. I need to work with him some more, lol. Sorry for the whine though. :rolleyes:

Part of this is that I'd like to have Christmas dinner at our house but I can't if I have to clean the house and cook.

Anyway, everyone have a nice holiday and it makes me feel homey to read your posts each day... (((((Big hugs to each of you.))))) :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

tamiloo 11-25-2008 01:00 AM

Just wanted to update you all on the home care that we aren't using any more. No one showed up last week. Last Saturday someone came to bathe the Olhipie and he told him we didn't want to use their services anymore. Today the PT showed up but we just didn't answer the door.

I have been caring for my honey and things have been going pretty good. I just have to work at it slowly.

Debbie D 11-25-2008 04:54 AM

Tam,
So sorry that the home care didn't work out...makes me mad when I see carelessness and inefficiency like that...take care of yourself, too:hug:

Wiz,
So sorry to hear you're not your energetic self lately...mentioning paying for a house cleaning always seems to get more cooperation from fam, doesn't it?:rolleyes:

It might be a good idea to have a person come in and do a hard-cleaning job--the heavy stuff that doesn't usually get done and ends up making the house smell dusty and musty...and might not cost much...why don't you look into it? Take care of yourself...:hug:

I seem to be sleeping a bit longer...whooo-hooo made it to 3 am tonight. I am so out of sorts on this pred!! I hate feeling like my cells are going to explode...I distinctly remember this from last time...can't wait until my 15 days are up.

A person from Copaxone's support system called yesterday to check up on what I'll need, sending me my injector and case, gave me phone numbers and web site info, and discussed support within the group...really nice...not as scared starting on this journey.

Funny, he asked, "when were you diagnosed with MS"...had to stop, thought to myself, 'I'm diagnosed with MS?' Still hasn't sunk in, I guess...

Kitty 11-25-2008 08:56 AM

Good Morning! It's very sunny here but chilly. It rained all day yesterday but we need it.

Wiz.....I hope you can get DH to help out more. If my DH had made dinner five nights a week and went grocery shopping I'd have been checking his driver's license to make sure he was really my DH!! He'd avoid the grocery store like the plague! He'd cook on the grill but that was about it. I hope you get your wish to have Christmas at your house this year! :)

Tamiloo.....be careful. Don't hurt your back again. I'd call the BBB about that agency. That's just not acceptable service IMHO.

DebbieD....I hope you get to feeling better. That's the reason I quit taking the steroids....they made me feel worse than I already did. :rolleyes:

Sandy & Jim....I hope your meeting with the contractor went well and that he can do what you want him to. Keep us posted!

Weave....good luck tomorrow on your interview. I'm sure they'll love you.

Sox....when will your boys be back? I'm glad they got to spend some time with their Dad's family. Hopefully they'll take lots of pics while in Puerto Rico!

Fin...did you sleep any better last night? Hope so!! :)

Everyone else....Trish, Vonn, B2Y, DM & AMN wherever you are, Frank & Deb, Tara, Holly, Sarah, Barb, Char, Kay, Twink, Momma, and Renee....have a really good day! :grouphug:

JustWeave 11-25-2008 09:08 AM

Thanks everyone for your well wishes concerning my upcoming job interview. The more I think about it the more I realize I don't have a snowballs chance of getting it. However! I'm not going down without a fight. :D I'll do the best I can and whatever happens, well it happens. If I get the job I'll be on cloud 9 for at least a week. :eek: If I don't get the job I'll have some interview experience under my belt that will help prepare me for the next interesting job I decide to pursue. :cool:

Things to do, places to go. Would much rather go back to bed...

Forward... hup, two three... March!:rolleyes:

Got a full 8 hours last night, whohoo. Things are looking up. Woke up to the wonderful scent of brewed coffee, and am sipping my first cup of the day.

Hoping this finds everyone well. :grouphug:

~~~~~~~~~
Tami, please be careful. I agree with reporting that agency.
Debbie D, LOL. I knew I forgot something to tell ya. The first couple of months I told SS about being probable. They didn't act surprised since more and more neuros are being proactive.
Wiz, totally understand needing to get family on board. Even my hubby has started to help a little more here and there, which has been great. Hope the holidays go well for ya. :hug:
