Wow....just since I've been up this morning I've slowly gotten sick.....fever, sore throat, headache, joint aches....http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...ilies/sick.gif

OK, who at the GTG gave me their flu for my birthday?! :confused: :p

I was huggin' on everybody so there's no tellin'.....it might not even have been them. Uh-oh...I may have given it to one of them and not known it! http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...lies/vroam.gif Sorry.....:o

I hope nobody else gets sick.....I'm gonna go fix me some hot tea and lay down on the couch. Everybody stay away from me....I'm germy!!

tkrik 12-04-2008 10:26 AM

(((Kelly))) - I hope you start feeling better. It is that time of year.:mad: Take 2 aspirins and call us in the morning. LOL j/k. Do chill today and take it easy as these colds/flus can be rough on us.:hug::hug:

BTW - I hope you didn't pass it to me via the phone. YIKES! LOL.

ewizabeth 12-04-2008 10:28 AM

Poor Kelly! :hug:I hope it's just one of those short-lived bugs and you'll feel better after a day of rest.

FinLady 12-04-2008 10:37 AM

Frank, trying to get a pattern set. Things just keep popping up, lol. Last night was restless because of being stuffed up. Never got out of bed, but kept waking up every couple of hours. :rolleyes: For some reason, I have a lot more energy today despite it. :confused:

everyone, :hug::hug:

~~~~~~
I'm crossing fingers that doc calls today. I've already had the lecture from hubby, my PCP, and now my father (rather loudly over the phone, I might add. :o ) about how stubborn I am when it comes to stuff. But I know a lot of tips and tricks that if it is nothing, I can clear stuff up. I hate, hate, hate going to the docs, which is why my PCP listens when I say something's wrong, lol. Ah well, at least there is a small silver lining to the way I do things.
Taking a quick break from cleaning. At least I can see I've started to make a dent. :yahoo:
FinLady 12-04-2008 10:38 AM
Kelly, hope you feel better soon. :hug:
barb02 12-04-2008 10:58 AM
Sleepyhead? I have been up since 6:30 and at school since 8:00.:p I have been having sleep issues too. I go to bead about 10:00, fall asleep around 11:30, and then wake up about 5:00. I have even been trying not laying down in the afternoon, but it is not working. And I am taking 900 mg of neurontin, ambien, and .25 mg of clonazepam when I go to bed. Oh well.
I am still scaring myself when I pass mirror:eek:. who is that person with the red hair? I have had a few compliments today, and others just say your hair color has changed -- mainly the guys in the department.
Well, I need to get back to work. Hi everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kelly, I am happy you had a good birthday. Feel better soon.
Jenn, Hope you hear from the doctor.
Weave, I would not drop in at possible job location. Instead I would call.
Vonn07 12-04-2008 11:01 AM
hey all ...
see, Kelly - that's why I don't want to go anywhere (and I use to basically never be home before!!)
Sox -- COOOOOOKIES ... (trying to say it like the Cookie Monster) .. I need to make a batch for a college student yet ... (but I'm afraid I'll sample so many that there won't be enough to ship out!)
so, Jenn .. you be stubborn?? I guess alot of us are ... I don't like doctors either ... but, the last time I went - I came right out and said "I'm always in pain" ... and when something stops - something else starts ... frustrating .. just keep your mind positive - it's hard, I know!!
UPDATE:: it's up to 12 already ... started at 7 ... watched the sunrise - so awesome!! and glistening off the lake .. well, the frozen lake!
I'm up to no good .. working at being one of Santa's elves .. have over 4 boxes of donations .. and more to go thru .. a package here and there ...
have a great day everyone ...
tkrik 12-04-2008 11:12 AM
Fin - I too hate to go to the dr to the point that I put off calling and then end up in crisis mode. LOL When the neuro called back the other day about my eye, she wanted me to come in. I didn't say a word.
So, she says, "I know you hate to hear that and that is not what you wanted to hear." Still I didn't say anything. I was not going to schedule that appt and she knew that. So, came the talk . . . Stubborn about going to the dr, I totally relate to that.
But, I do have to mention this . . .I have the worst sinus infection I have had in a long time. It is creating havoc on my body. If I had not been so stubborn and brushed it all off, ignoring what was going on, it all I would not be in the shape I am today. I now will be starting abx #2, still have blurred vision, my stomach is just rejecting everything that goes in it, my head feels swollen, etc., etc. I am not complaining or whining; just making a point. Had I called sooner all of this could have been avoided.
weegot5kiz 12-04-2008 11:17 AM
Kelly hope you get to feeling better real soon:hug:
Fin good luck I suffer from insomnia so I know what a pain it can be,
Barb I am sure it looks great, i am an auburn fan:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Vonn deb has 4 big bags of cloths she is going to drop off today
I made some chocolate chippers at 1130 pm last night, dang munchies
Soxie you making Kolaskis(sp?) I need to make mine real soon been yearning for strawberry preserves kolaskis, emm those are so good, gonna make some snowballs and some peanut butter cookies maybe some short breads, and of course will make more fudge this holiday season
hey 17 more days and the days start getting longer:yahoo:
I know just what you mean Frank! :D At least it's December now, three more months and we'll see signs of springtime... :) Robins building early nests, colorful crocus' poking up through the leftover patches of snow, trees budding out. :)
SandyC 12-04-2008 11:45 AM
Awww, you little rascals off and posting so much already! :hug: to all who are not feeling well. I have cleaning chores today, litterboxes, sweeping, etc. I need to tweak Jim's backup wheechair as well, adding his roho seat, etc.
I have a doctors appointment in the morning for my three month checkup as well. It's good to do it now than after the holidays. lol He wanted me to come in last Friday and I told him no way the day after Thanksgiving. He just laughed and said he was trying to help me.
We had a guy come out yesterday to get a quote on a lift for Jim and that man wants to excavate my garage and add a hole to drop a lift in to the basement. We're talking upper 20 thousand in cost! :yikes: I do believe that man lost his mind. We have to get three quotes for the MS Society before they decide if they will give us a grant to help with the cost but we can choose who we want. That was good to hear because we just want a simple inclined platform lift on the stairs. We thought about an elevator but the cost is so high. We also applied for another grant through a company called Ramp Up. They help veterans with funds from the Illinois Veterans lotto.
I called them today and told them we just want simplicity and don't want to take funds that can go to other vets. I know they would give us more but they were grateful that we don't need the most expensive item so they can help others in need. The girl laughed when I told her about the guy yesterday. She laughed even harder when I said what if the lift gets stuck in between the garage and basement with Jim in it? :yikes: She apologized for laughing and I said it's OK, we laughed too. Something tells me the guy yesterday just wants to make a buck and we've already been told by someone else they are a drop and run company. But I had to get three quotes, it's the rule. Funny how each person comes in and says they can do better and how wonderful they are. For the record, we are using a company that has done work with us before and we trust. ;)
Ok, I have talked enough. I'll pass the mic to someone else now. :grouphug:
PS: Here's the lift we're thinking about getting for Jim on the stairs to the basement:
SPRING!!! What happy, warm thoughts for all of you in the cooler climates.
Growing up on the east coast, I used to love those signs of spring. I really do miss the change of seasons. It sounds weird but those season changes are still in me. Like every September, I'm wanting to get my sweaters out and wear my jeans and yearn for the cool, crisp air. Same goes for the rest of the seasons.
In the desert, the season go from he!! to hot to warm to hot to he!!. Although the nights can get cold (teens/20's) the days are rarely below 50.
tkrik 12-04-2008 11:51 AM
Sandy - Saying prayers for you that you guys get the assistance on the lift. What a blessing that will be.:hug:
It was stuff like this that actually made me a little better about grabbing a doc when I need to, even when I loathe to do so. I've learned the various time limits to trying home remedy stuff. My gall bladder situation peaked when I was 19. I had over 6 months of severe symptoms and pepto bismal (which didn't help at all). That little stunt definitely taught me that sometimes it's good to get to a doc sooner rather than later, especially when the surgeon tells you all the nasty stuff that could've happened if one had waited any longer. :eek:
Still a little stubborn about it since I don't like docs, but know they are necessary sometimes. :o
FinLady 12-04-2008 12:03 PM
Sandy, that's a cool looking lift! :cool: Hope everything works out!
Thanks, now I am hungry. :D
soxmom 12-04-2008 01:19 PM
no kolatchies today Frank. I made little shortbread bites. just tiny
enough to pop a few in your mouth....very addictive. the trick is getting
them in the freezer before anyone else comes home.lol
Debbie D 12-04-2008 02:43 PM
Morning...I mean afternoon, all...busy people!!
Kelly, wrap yourself in an afghan and watch a funny movie...take care of yourself...
Cookies, cookies, cookies!!! Pass some here!!!:D:D
I had the visit from the Copaxone nurse a little while ago...she went over everything with me, and I got the first injection in...still stings a little...but not difficult at all...thank God for autoinject!! Still feels a bit unreal...but I'm grateful that there's meds to slow down the progression...:o
Darn, it's cold!! Puts you in the holidy spirit, that's for sure!!
I'm pretty sure that my breathing problems are from a cold/sinus thingie...I took decongestant and Hall's cough drops, and I feel a lot better...plus, being off the pred makes me feel a lot better. And I slept all right last night...woke up every two hours, but went right back to sleep...ahhhh, feels great!!
Sandy, i like that lift, but what was that guy thinking?:confused:
Well, I guess I should get something done today...or not:rolleyes:
barb02 12-04-2008 03:08 PM
Students are so funny. I walked into class, and I heard rumblings of she got her hair dyed. Then one of the guys said, "did you dye your hair "and I answered "yes, I wanted a change." Then another one of the guys, said "cool." Meanwhile the female students were smiling as if to say, I can't believe they are making comments about her hair. As I was leaving the building, another student that I do not know said to me that she really liked my bag (purse) and that it was cute. When I was a student I would have never made personal comments to the prof's. I was scared of them. It is a sign of the changing times, I guess. I guess I am not scary enough!:rolleyes: I think they actually see most of us as people. That is a good thing!
weegot5kiz 12-04-2008 03:34 PM
it was frickin cold this morning said 5 above outside
ok I found a better way to get the kid to help clean house I put on the Nashville country channel on puter and crank it yes they hate it and can normally tolerate country but this station doesn't play that Hollywood country music like us 99 they play bluegrass gospel and older country way cool house got clean real quick told them want the music off then get done,, see more than one way to skin a cat:yikes:
FinLady 12-04-2008 03:48 PM
Frank, LOL! that's one way to get it done. ;)
Sox, those shortbread bites sound soooo dangerous. Since I love shortbread, I don't think any would've made it to the freezer - LOL! :D
Debbie, Glad you're feeling better today. Yep, the meds make everything a little surreal when you first get them. Then you forget their even there. A great example was Frank's pic of the cake in the fridge and it took Sandy to say something for me even to notice his Copax box. ;)
Barb, Yep, times are a changin'. I know that being the daughter of a college prof, I was never scared of my teachers or profs. :)
weegot5kiz 12-04-2008 03:52 PM
Barb this is a real good thing, you are reaching them, they feel safe enough to talk to you as a human not as a authoritative figure, i thing its a good thing, not like they are 6-9 where they need a lot of structure, its cool
when do we get a pic of the new hair, soon i hope. would hate to start a poll and a new thread asking who all wants to see your new hair lol now get us some pics:hug: just funnin with you, i will let sandy start the new poll
Now that is a reason to dance. :yahoo: I loathe winter. Once I'm on my own I plan to move south. How far south kinda depends on where the kids are.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`

Still no word on the job. :rolleyes: Since I was there yesterday getting some videos (it's a library) I thought it best to stay away today. If I don't hear anything by Monday I'll go in then with a return and ask for an update while I'm there. I know my references were contacted Monday and Tuesday. Bios were written after that and sent to the board. Then it was prayer time followed by board meeting time. I wish I would have asked when the board was meeting. :Bang-Head: Toss in Feast Day and that may have delayed some things. Monday will be a week and a half after my interview and a full work week after too.

Caught DD red handed skirting her home school responsibilities. :mad: Welcome to classes on Saturday. Got my fingers crossed this will prevent her from getting a job before she graduates in May.

Guild meeting tonight. Can hardly wait. Sit around talking about yarn and fiber stuff and no one looks at you like you got two heads. :D

Have a great evening everyone.

Kitty 12-04-2008 07:16 PM

I think I have the flu......body aches, throat sore, ears hurt....waaaaa! I took some Aleve a little bit ago but this will require antibiotics, I think. I'll call my PCP first thing tomorrow morning. Think he'll just call in something for me? :rolleyes: I foresee a trip to the doctors office.....:(

It hurts to even type but it also hurts to lay down....I just cannot get comfortable.

OK...whine over. I'll live. I've survived worse.......:).

Weave...I hope you hear about the job soon. It's hard to wait.

Sandy...that chair lift looks awesome! I really do hope it works out and you get it.

Barb....now you're the cool teacher babe with red hair!!

Sox....I will PM you my address so you can mail me some cookies!

DebbieD...good luck with the C. That was my first DMD.

Fin, Vonn, Tara (where the heck are you?), Renee and anyone else I didn't mention here's a :grouphug:. I held my breath so I wouldn't breathe germs on you!! :p

NaeNae 12-04-2008 08:04 PM

Kelly here's the stats.......... he's 45, 6'4ish, umm he's black so he has black hair and brown eyes. He is a former football player and still has the killer body. He has an amazing smile. And he's super sweet and treats me like a princess! What more could a girl ask for?

could you give me the recipe for the shortbread bites?????

FinLady 12-04-2008 11:12 PM

things I have learned today...

1.) there is no such thing as a "slow time" at a toy store this close to the holiday. Slower than other times, but still busy. :Doh:

2.) found out which painting hubby finally chose for our cards. Decided to make the "loser" my avatar until the holiday is over. ;)

3.) found out that the gray cat looks good in light purple as she sniffed the paints as I was working on a painting. Learned that I am so glad I use acrylic and it's easy to get out of carpet before it dries. :D

4.) doc offices can be real slow getting ahold of people. Hoping it's like an insurance hiccup. Will call PCP back if haven't heard anything by lunch tomorrow. :(

5.) Trying to turn on a muscle fatigued leg after an hour 'n half walking through afore-mentioned toy store is an adventure in acrobatics. :D

6.) Write down list of errands needing run. Otherwise you get home and realize you forgot a few things. :o

Hope everyone has a great night. :grouphug:

FranksAngel 12-05-2008 12:03 AM

frank and i make said lists all the time ..... and said list seems to always manage to sit ... calmly .... waiting .... on the desk where it, like all the others before it, has yet again been forgotten .... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...entral/duh.gif

Debbie D 12-05-2008 06:25 AM

Morning everyone...rise and shine! It's a beautiful day in America (and Australia, England, etc).

The muscle spasms are back big time. Three during the night, and one that I had to wake DH up for to help me deal...how could this come back only 3 days after stopping roids? And I also noticed that my eyes must be spasming a little...tv screen jumps a little occasionally...my poor DH...wasn't in the vows...:(

Got a busy day ahead...therapy...then take the inlaws shopping...and try to catch up on homework...so far behind...:eek:

Have a great day everyone!! Frank, how many days until the sun starts back up north? I look forward to it every year...:)

JustWeave 12-05-2008 08:29 AM

Mornin' all. Guild meeting was great. I always come home from that in a good mood. So few people talk my textile langauge (spinning yarn, weaving fabric, etc.) it has been a real boost to my sanity to gather with them once a month. :D

Told DH about DD's lacks of school work. He wasn't sure who he was more angry with her for what she did/ didn't do or me for not catching this sooner. I told him I was miffed at myself for my part in this mess. I was way too trusting of DD and it bit me. :o I tried to get him to see that this was another reason why I felt DD working at his office was a mistake. Something is going to suffer and I already know it would be her school work. DH wouldn't even give me a breadcrumb of hope that he would change his mind about her working there. :mad: I did ask him point blank why he was so bent on her working there and he said it would be a better environment than the places she has mentioned wanting to work at. I had to agree I'm not thrilled with her choices but there are other options. :rolleyes:

Groceries to fetch, school work to supervise, phone to wish would ring...

tkrik 12-05-2008 08:42 AM

Good morning everyone!

Fin - We learn something new everyday. Yesterday, you learned quite a bit. LOL

Sox - I love shortbread! *hint, hint* LOL. Making shortbread is so easy too.

Barb - Your students DO pay attention. ;)

Renee
- Thanks for some of the details but you left out how you met Mr. Wonderful.;) Or, maybe you did and I missed/don't remember that post.:o Still, I am so happy for you that things are really turning around.:hug:

(((DebbieD))) - Sorry to hear you had a rough night. I hope you start feeling better soon. I know it gets frustrating and you sit back and wonder when will you feel better again. Then one day, everything is back to "normal" or a new "normal." Hang in there!:hug:

Weave - Glad you had a good time last night. You needed that time with people who share your same interests.

Kelly
- Hope you are feeling better this morning.:hug:

Frank & Deb - I do the same thing with lists. LOL I make them and forget about them. :rolleyes:

Hi to everyone else I didn't mention. I am thinking of you all as well and hoping you are doing well today.:hug::grouphug:

hollym 12-05-2008 09:31 AM

Hey there. Thanks to everyone who offered prayers / good thoughts with this cancer / biopsy scare with my Grandma. The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning to just putting it off until after Christmas. She really wanted to wait, but the surgeon said he wanted to get it done now and treatment could wait until after the holidays.

So, we caved and scheduled it. Now, I'm sitting here thinking that if treatment can wait and the biopsy results only take 3 - 4 days, why can't we wait until after the holidays? I mean it's really only a couple of weeks. I put in a call to the PCP to get his opinion before I call to reschedule, but that is what I'm really leaning toward doing now.

On another note, we decorated the living room / put up the tree last night and now I am so dang tired and sore today. I feel pathetic. I'm popping Baclofen and aspirin and drinking lots of coffee today! Now, I have to contemplate getting a photo for Christmas cards.

Back to work...

FinLady 12-05-2008 09:38 AM

Morning all. :) Was online earlier this morn, but didn't have any coffee and just kept staring at the screen trying to comprehend what was on it. So gave up until I had a cup or two, lol. :D

A little tired, but have plans today to meet a friend to go to a winter fair. Kinda meant to be, lol. She has a coupon for a buy one ticket get the other free, and I have a coupon for buy one meal get one free. We both have to move slowly (she has chron's), so we won't have anyone trying to make us keep pace. All in all, Seems like it's going to work out. :)

~~~~~~
Weave, glad you had fun at the guild meeting. It's sometimes great to be with like-minded people. :) Hope things improve with DD. :hug:
Trish, Hmmm. Our snow melted so no snowballs coming from here. :D
Sox, COOKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YUM!!!!!!!!!!
Debbie D, Sorry to hear about the spasms. Hope you feel better soon. :hug:
FinLady 12-05-2008 09:41 AM
Holly, totally understand the desire for waiting after the holidays. Hoping everything works out. :hug:
tkrik 12-05-2008 09:44 AM
