Hey, Frank, I hope you can figure something out that satisfies both sides of your conundrum. I found out that, once I retire on disability, I'm "on disability" for the rest of my life. So...does that mean if I take a part-time job as a Walmart greeter (there's an idea for you) when I'm 80, somebody from the OIG is going to pop out from behind a display of cookies and yell "AHA! You're able to work!"

hey Frank .. you sound like me ... and like Kay says "staying under the radar" is a tough act - but, you can do it ...

and because of your little campouts at the hospitals (these would be considered exasperations or flares) ... keep a journal about all this when filling out the paperwork .. do they want to deal with you having to be on breathing apparatus to keep their job??

tomorrow is Monday - call your County seat and ask to speak to someone that deals with the resource center for the 'aging and disability' ... this will get you in the door for foodstamps, and 'direction' on applying for heat assistance - sometimes you can go directly thru the power company - sometimes thru the county ...

foodstamps (here in Wisc) is pretty slick - it works like a debit card .. with a pin number and and 800 number to find out the balance etc .. it's less evasive than it was with the 'paper' money they used in the past ...

and work on your poetry - and publish it ... here's an idea ... start your own blog ... and start with your poems ... when you have about 25 or so - contact a publisher ... and you can start small, printing them yourself and selling the booklet online via your site (I have all the punching and plastics to hold it together) ... did I get you thinking??? (yes, yes - I'm preaching to the choir) ..

Good morning everyone!

Well, it's finally cooled off here in GA. Going to be in the 50's today. Finally!!

Frank, be careful of any "work at home" deals you come across. Some of them are just out to take your money. I think you can make up to $900 or $950 a month before SS says anything to you. Something done from home would be ideal, though, 'cos you don't have to deal with getting up and dressed....you could work in your jammies!

Can you type? Now there's a stupid question....look at your post count!! What I was thinking was this....our county paper has all the Legal announcements published in it once a week (foreclosures, divorces, adoptions, name changes, etc.) and they have a team of people who do nothing but type and proof these listings. I know of a couple of them who work from home and email their work in. I'd love to do something like that but these jobs don't open up too often and when they do there is already a waiting list of people ready to take them. But, it's something you could look into.

Maybe contact your county's library. Maybe you could do some sort of work for them....it's quiet (or supposed to be) and there's probably something you could do sitting down.

I know how you feel, though. On the days that I feel somewhat "normal" I want to do something productive so badly. But that little voice in the back of my mind keeps telling me not to get used to it 'cos the fatigue will slap me down when I'm least expecting it to. Oh well, I'll take the good days as long as I can get them.

Good luck to you....I hope you can find something.

Frank, hope that things will work out for you and Deb. You've gotten a lot of cool advice.

~~~~~~~~
Morning all. Knew it last night when I got home, but yep - pushed just a little too hard when it came to the show. Survived, very worth it, but very tired and wobbly this morn. LOL, the "pay to play" program is still in effect.
So glad hubby drove me there and back yesterday, so that was one less thing that I had to do. I can still drive safely, but good grief it makes me so tired sometimes. That is probably one of the things that drives me nutty when I think about it. I know why it causes me to be so tired - constant movement and having to be aware at all times.
So today I'm just going to tackle some laundry and some dishes. With lots of breaks in between. And coffee.
Hope everyone has a great day.
Morning everyone! Not much going on today. I will probably do some cleaning of the kitchen and living room. Jim's going to watch the Bears and play his xbox game. He stopped the Sinemet and feels like a million dollars compared to the nausea and yuck feeling the "cure" was giving him. His doctor never called Friday so we made the executive decision to stop it and was wise to do so. His appetite is back and he feels much better. Sometimes the "cure" is worse than the spasms you know? I started him on valium, 10mgs, three times a day until we talk to his doctor Monday. I am not sure how his doctor will feel about this but I am going to tell him I respect him so much but Jim comes first.
I pray for all of you to have a restful Sunday. I was up last night watching God versus Satan on the history channel. It covered Judaism, Christianity and Islam beliefs of Armageddon. I missed the first part and plan to tape it on the 16th when it airs again.
Frank, you've been given some good advice. One question I have is do you know what your rated at on SSDI? When Jim first started (early 1990's), he was rated 50%, then 75%, then 100%. With each rating his SSDI went up. Maybe check on that and if your rated below 100% maybe get a re-eval from your doc to get it raised up some? Just a thought.
to all!
Isn't this funny?
