Default I'm boring!

I just read something about everyone needing a hobby to help with their health.

And it occurred to me that I don't have a hobby! How can that be?

As a kid I read and read, but not anymore.

When I was younger I played softball and bowled on a league. But not now.

I've taken several classes through the years: oil painting, tole painting, creative writing, songwriting, photography, Photoshop, stained glass, pottery making and other crafty things. But I no longer do any of them. I've pieced together a quilt top, but like the sewing more than the quilting (I don't quilt). I've crocheted and knitted a little.

I like to cook, but hate the mess. Not much of a pet person, but had one of everything when I was young, including dogs, cats, birds, a sheep, a calf, a horse and a mean raccoon! I even found a baby deer and fed it for a couple of weeks until the game warden said I couldn't keep it.

I play the piano, but need a reason to sit down and play. When the grandkids come over we sing songs for whatever the season is.

But meanwhile, I don't have a real hobby. I'm not a gardener. I used to scrapbook, but it's too tedious.

Part of my problem is that I'm a good starter, but a lousy finisher. I've got a closet of unfinished projects. All the activities I mentioned above don't really interest me enough to start up again.

So, what to do what to do? The only thing I can think of is that I love to travel and meet interesting people. And eat. I love to eat WAAAAAY too much!

I used to think that once my children grew up and left home that I'd write a musical play. I've pretty much got the songs and lyrics written, but lack training and wish I had someone to collaborate with. *sigh* Excuses, excuses.

Let's face it: I'M BORING!!!

I have built and finished doll houses from kits. On a yearly Garbage day (you could throw anything out - people would clean out their attics and make a big pile )and there were many unfinished dollhouses, people would start and never finish. Since I was a child I've collected minaturesfurniture and decorating items. Wall-papered. flooring, some furniture I made fromkits and scratch and furniture given to me or collected through the years. Have a doll house I used all my best stuff for one, it's really not for a child.

Did a more child friendly (less inticate, less breakable) for DD one Chritmas. Now with use of only one hand and the other not so cleaver anymore, just read.

I make rosaries and sometimes personalize them with a name, birth date ( or baptism, confirmation date, anniversary or wedding date, etc.) - they are really popular. And all kinds of jewelry. And I write lots of poetry; 2 booklets published years ago. Or, rather, I used to write. I'm not so "inspired" anymore.....lazy, I guess. But the rosaries seem to keep me as busy as I want to be because I get orders from all over the US - and beyond. I think, right now, the last I actually sent away was to a friend of a frien in Rome. A lot of them are ordered from friends of friends and friends of friends of friends, etc. It's fun and sometimes even keeps me out of trouble. Our church has a craft show once a year and there are ALL kinds of crafts there - quilts, angels, baby "hoodies", etc. It's a lot of fun. I'm making a rosary right now with shamrock beads for a new baby girl. So cute!
